Richardson and Johnson

Aj will be fine in the nfl. He's the next Brandon Spikes. Can't run worth a damn, but a great in the box linebacker.

Tiny's gone. I honestly think a bit of the hype got into his head. I still think he's a late first rounder. I honestly don't think AJ has much of an NFL career. To slow!

Great post and great info. But we all know they are both going pro because that's what juniors from Tennessee do - they go the NFL too early far too often. But honestly who could blame them? Who in the world would want to come back to Knoxville and suffer through yet another dreadful season in '14?

AJ Johnson would be lucky to be drafted right now. A MLB that cannot cover in today's pass happy NFL? Johnson needs another year.

Richardson IDK WTF he needs? His draft status was likely higher last year than this year. If he stays and gets back to where he was likely he goes higher but LT are usually taken high in the draft regardless IDK that the difference in cash is worth another year of college football wear and tear without a check.

I like the post, but if you think Tiny is going to go undrafted through the first 2 rounds then you're crazy. I know how he played this season, but he's still a first round draft pick. You put him in a more traditional pro style offense and he's going to shine.

Salary difference between the top of the first round and the bottom of it is pretty significant. If he was one of the first three OTs pick in last season's draft he would make around 20 million/4yrs. It drops down to 10 million/4yrs in the middle of the first round of the draft for the 4th OT taken. Then drops into the 5 million range for early second round picks.

So if Tiny feels like he can play himself into the top three at his position which I absolutely believe he has shown he could do in the past, is it worth an extra 10 million over four years to come back for another season?

Tiny ain't gonna play himself into a top 3 pick in the 2-point stance he would be required to work from at UT. No way, no how. He's much better off saying good riddance to the Vols, going to the league, getting some real coaching and cleaning up with his second contract.

I said top three OTs not top three pick.

I honestly have seen a decline in AJ's skills. Or should I say no improvement!! He takes bad angles and I agree his pass coverage is a hindrance at best. I appreciate AJ giving his all and I understand he has been through a lot of changes ,ie coaches, schemes.. But unless a great LB coach gets a hold of him on the next level, he wont play on Sundays.

NFL teams draft off potential. I saw a mock draft that had Tiny going 15th overall to NY Giants

His reaction speed is slow

Tiny will be a first rounder, mark it down... there is such thing as pro days and the combine.

I think anyone that thinks we're better off without both of these guys is bat**** crazy. They may have had their struggles but they are great players. If the players behind them were better then they would be playing. With them gone, who gets to play instead? The guys behind them who aren't better than them.

We have an amazing recruiting class but don't say that these freshmen are going to come in and play better than if we had Tiny and AJ either.

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond... Holidays and work have been keeping me busy. A couple of things to note:

1. You'll always be able to find some joe schmo who can make a mock draft and put it on the internet, so posting links to mock drafts where Tiny is listed in the first round is meaningless... You also need to look at the dates on all of those to see when the last time they have been updated/edited.

2. I never said he wouldn't go in the first round. I said he wasn't a sure thing like many believed he'd be at the beginning of the year. He underperformed this season. That's not a knock at all against the kid. As I clearly stated I know he'll be in the NFL someday it's just a matter of when. He still COULD go in the first round if a team falls in love with him, or believes they can fix his problems soon.

3. This NFL Draft class is LOADED with OT this year. Matthews, Lewan, Kouandjio, Moses, Iowa OT, Hurst, Collins, Richardson, and even the RT for A&M have all received first round grades at some point... With an underperforming year it has caused Tiny's draft stock to slide, which will cost him money in the range of millions of dollars. It will cost him even more if he falls out of the first round, which according to many NFL people I've talked to about him could very easily happen right now. Tiny isn't going to blow people away at the combine... He's not a workout freak like a Lane Johnson last year. He's 6'6 330 lbs and has long arms and good feet. He's also strong for his size as well and has minimal body fat for an offensive lineman. He will not improve his stock that much participating in the combine. He has no senior bowl to compete in if he comes out this year being a junior, so he cannot show his talents there either.

4. If he comes back and fine tunes a few issues in his game, he could go in the top ten next season. Tiny is a very motivated kid and I believe he will dedicate himself and use this season as motivation if he gives it another year to the point where he'll be a sure fire first round pick and possible top ten selection.

5. Anyone who claims to be "fine" or "glad" with the departure of Tiny or AJ is a moron. There is no one in this recruiting class that can replace either of them at this point. Both would be welcome and awesome additions to the 2014 squad. Both would help in areas of need as well. Tiny would help especially considering the depletion of our entire offensive line unit. He would also allow Blair to start out at RT and avoid putting pressure on a guy who has no experience playing in the SEC at LT. I'm not saying Blair couldn't handle the left side, it's just not rocket science given the choice between he and Richardson...

6. I wish Tiny nothing but the best with whatever choice he and his family make. Like I said, I do not know his family situation very well. He might need to go pro early and support his family. If that's the case more power to him and wish him nothing but the best of luck and thank him for all he gave to this program.

I think Tiny will go and will probably be a late first or early second (Hunter) pick. When you talking $millions it makes no difference if it is 5 or 20 mill. Its still enough to set yourself up for life.
