Sign both if we can and a post! We have 5 Schollies to use.

I would not be shocked to see McRae transfer. Because our coaches want players to focus on defense and McRae no likey defense!

If he does not play lots of mins next season I mean. That would give us another Scholly for 2012. I hope he decides to play defense and gets lots of minutes next season. He has lots of talent offensively speaking. If he works on his defense he could be a great player.

He has the athleticism and length to be a great defender on the perimeter. He needs to bulk up a little bit and put his nose to the grindstone. Personality wise, he is similar to Wayne Chism. He is someone that likes to cut up and have a good time. Hopefully he knows when to ditch that and find his inner All Business during practice.

this thread is borderline delusional - 1 year removed from the elite eight were excited about a 2 star bball recruit with no offers to speak of - really? Talk about the lowering of expectations

Richardson is ranked the #121 player in the country and is someone who is moving up in most peoples minds. He is a very good basketball player.

Your use of the word "marginal" is interesting. There were plenty of teams in the show this year made up of "marginal" recruits. There were teams with nothing but so called "marginal" recruits handing out beatdowns to some of the better programs. I tend to trust that the coach has a pretty good idea of what he is getting in these 2 cases.

Yes we all know that sometimes great coaches can find diamonds in the rough and have great teams without great recruiting. However, if you continually recruit these players you will not regularly compete for conference championships or for sweet 16 appearances. Said another way, you will be the pre-Pearl TN. You need to have real top talent mixed in. I am not saying he can't recruit or that he has a ton of 5 stars just dying to become Vols at this point. I am just saying none of the recent bball recruiting makes me "excited".

Agree that you need at least a couple of studs per team. And more talent is generally better. But the number of stars doesn't always equate to success or level of contribution at the collegiate level. And teams like Butler prove that sometimes you can do it without any blue chippers.

I do not mean to devalue Richardson in any way shape or form. Nearly all consensus top 150 players are high major contributors by their sophomore years. Getting Richardson on board is not a bad thing. I just don't expect any more than getting another Cam Tatum out of Richardson, ie: a solid role player...
