If he wants in on Hammy-Nation, then I'd welcome him. Like his approach to the game and I think he could do for us what Bo Ryan has done for Wisconsin after spending years coaching at smaller programs.

What's interesting is usually when a coach is fired the new coach is usually polar opposite of the previous coach. Is Byrd the direct opposite? I don't know anything about him or his personality.

Byrd is a good coach. Don't know how his strategy would translate from mid-major conference to big six conference.

He's definitely a good enough tactician to get it done. I'd be really concerned about recruiting though.

Byrd lacks the dynamic flair and zeal that our program needs right now.

If you want more Buzzball or Wade Houston basketball, then you hire Byrd.

If you want to build on top of the foundation that Bruce Pearl built, then you hire someone with a more dynamic swagger and experience in recruiting top notch players. Byrd lacks the recruiting gravitas needed at UT.

I would say that if Byrd has now appeared on the list, we have fallen to one heck of a place in the coach search.

I think that coach byrd would be a great hire. I do question his recruiting, but you never know until tou give him a shot. I live in the middle TN. Area, and he highly thought of.

Byrd is not high on my list. It would be difficult for him to recruit, and if he doesn't establish himself quickly, we could have 4 or 5 bad seasons.

THIS.

People think he hasent been offerd other jobs. It's well known here in nashville that he has but has told search commitees no before his name went public. He has been very commited to Belmont and if we pry him away it would be bigger than some realize.
