Natural gas is cheaper. They can mine the coal if they want and sell to china or whoever. You tout capitalism as the path to efficiency, innovation, and competition but yet you still want the government to make US policy that favors this antiquated industry.

Solar and wind can't compete without being propped up by the government.

Not shuttering coal plants isn't necessarily propping up an antiquated industry.

Abandoning an "antiquated industry" puts the country at risk when it's one of the most important components of the energy mix.

Dems that want it left in the ground are idiots. Government support in the form of promoting technological advancements in an already established, massive industry isn't the same thing as slapping unnecessary regulations on another industry. I'm not surprised that you're unable to see the difference.

The Dutch have been using windmills for a long long time.. traditional Fuel remains very high... Therefore no impact on consumption
