Riggs to Miami

Deep down I wanted the Colts to pick him up.

It is just a matter of time before Addai gets hurt, so the Colts still need to find a running back.

Saban may have p/u another guy that can contribute...who knows. Hopefully GR can put it all together and be the back that we all thought he could be here....good luck GR!

I hope he does well in Miami. I definitely do not want to see him get RACKED! Hopefully he will do well on Miami Beach.

THATS 2 VOLS PICKED BY SABAN, RIGGS AND J ALLEN.

Umm, not to be technical, but Riggs wasn't "picked" by anyone. He signed on as a free agent, and probably has a less than 50% chance to make the team. But it's possible. I wish him all the best. I predict that Allen will be starting this year in Miami.

Saban chose to sign riggs as a free agent. there was others he could have signed instead. don't misrepresent this. Lots of players get signed as free agents and make the team.

like Jake Delhomme...and that's worked out pretty well, though the Panthers didn't sign him, still goes to show....

not to be technical either but if he wasn't "picked", he wouldn't be heading to miami right now, he'd be staying home

My point is, he wasn't drafted. There's a HUGE difference between being a draftee and being signed as a free agent. The statement that Allen and Riggs were "picked" implies that both were selected the same way (meaning both were drafted). That is simply not true. Undrafted free agents are not the same as players that are drafted. There's a reason why players get drafted, and others don't. Riggs was probably "invited" to join the team, which isn't the same as being drafted! These teams look at players they draft as being "important" and probably making the team. They have a real interest in you if they draft you. Being invited as an unsigned free agent is kinda like being an invited walk on. Being picked is being claimed, which isn't the same as an open ended invitation.

there is a huge difference between a FA and a draft guy. 95% of draft guys make the team, 95% of FA guys dont

A lot of it is political too. A marginal guy who is a draft pick has a lot better shot than a free agent because GMs and player personnel guys like to be right.

Saban has been picking up all the ex-SEC he can...
That's because he knows the calibur of players he's getting....SEC is where the best football in the country is played

Let's rephrase that... It's ONE of the best. But in terms of talent, and team play the SEC not the elite conference. Just look at the players taken in the early rounds of the draft this weekend. What % of them were SEC players compared to other conferences?? I think there might be a slight bias in your opinion on the quality of teams/players in the SEC.

The SEC is my favorite conference, but I'd be lying to myself if I thought it was the strongest.

Undrafted free agents SIGN a contract. They get paid for their time at training camp trying to make a team. Just because your were picked 7th or 6th round doesn't mean you make a team either.

Since Miami is paying Riggs to come down there, its not some arbitrary invititation, that was not given some thought. Lots of players don't get invititations to training camps. Again, your misrepresenting it.

It is on like Donkey Kong. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

For Gerald doubters and draft talk, also note that pedigree goes a long way in the NFL.

Early rounds selection does not a NFL super star make! For the record in all 37 players drafted of the 255 total were SEC players. I haven't gone conference by conference but I will stand behind the SEC as the BEST conference in College Football.

Year in and year out, it is the SEC. So you just might as well admit it and join with those of us who know.

YOU CAN"T TOP THE SEC

The ACC, our next door neighbors, had 51 players drafted....

with your best non-objective opinion....

Do you guys think Gerald will touch the ball that much? What is Miami's depth chart like at RB?
