This might be a little sentimental, especially for a guy who didn't play a down, but, for me, it's about something larger.

I'll say this: I hoped his granddaddy was going to "kick his ass" and talk to him because I wanted to see Riley's game in Orange. He hasn't played a down, but I appreciate every young man who wants to be a Vol and commits to being a Vol. These players make a huge commitment even when they don't play - the kind of commitment I only grew into later in life (certainly not in college). I hate it when, for whatever reason, being a Vol doesn't work out for some of these young men.

Good luck to Riley and good luck to all the Vols present and future.

Riley was recruited over by Jones and he did not like it all and sounded pretty negative about it on signing day..The film of Jones Jumping up and down when they got Dobbs probably did not help...If Jones had at least been straight with this kid it might have worked out different....I would think Jones has learned as much from this deal as anyone..

Soooo... My only exposure to Ferguson's ability has been the O/W games last year and this year. I'm pretty sure the same can be said for 99% of the other posters on these pages (and it's doubtful many have even had that exposure). Dobb's was definitely the better QB this year and last year was an abysmal display by all the QBs. For everyone assuming that Ferguson is better than the other options at QB are basing it on hearsay and quite possibly a delusional desire for something we simply don't have at the moment. Could he be better? absolutely. But there is no way to know this and the fact that he is leaving has to lead one to the belief that he has fallen behind on the depth chart and doesn't believe he can compete to move up. So before you go there.... it's insane to think that Butch Jones wouldn't give Fergs an opportunity because "he wasn't Butch's recruit. Butch wants to, and needs to win football games and you only do that by putting your best on the field. It's not Ferguson. I wish the kid good luck at UNCC. It is where I actually graduated from college so I hope he is as good as most of you believe he is:)

Riley good luck to you and your future. One of the things I pledge to do this year is everything in my power to eradicate the Riley Ferguson chapter of the North American Man Boy Love Association. Riley deserves better some of y'all need to seek deep deep deep deep psychotherapy over your obsession with this young man. He broke up with you, gave your ring back, its over, move on ..sheesh!

I don't remember him being in last year's O&W game. You must have had better seats than I did.

UT athletics website still has him on the 2014 summer roster - usually when someone leaves its updated right away

Why do some posters fall all over themselves to thank a recruit for choosing UT? Strikes me as kinda pathetic. Jmo.

If Jones had been straight with the kid? Good lord please quit acting like you know something about the situation. Immature.

The fact that you started this thread at 4 in the morning is sad, gross, and pathetic. Riley's departure keeping you up all night? Some people really need to get out and live a little and stop worrying so much about which 19 year old kid wants to play/doesn't want to play for the T.

I care about the T and those who wear it. I don't give a **** about the ones that decide to take it off.
