His dream job remember....Just like if he actually has success here and say the NFL came calling. That would be his dream job as well.

Riley was recruited over by Jones and he did not like it all and sounded pretty negative about it on signing day..The film of Jones Jumping up and down when they got Dobbs probably did not help...If Jones had at least been straight with this kid it might have worked out different....I would think Jones has learned as much from this deal as anyone..

Hi, I'm reality....looks like we've never met.

Maybe Butch heard some things about Riley's mentality or work ethic that gave him cause for concern, or it could be that he wanted to hedge his bets as a new coach and have one more good option to turn to if Riley or Peterman didn't pan out.

Where can I find the Austin Carr Appreciation thread?

Riley was just the headline. This post is about all the young men who come to Knoxville with certain dreams, but, for whatever reason, those dreams just don't work out. It's also a reminder to everyone how hard these kids work, even those that don't get to play a down.

My thought is that you try to recruit over every player. That way you get the best of the best.

Agree. You never stop recruiting better players. Guaranteed that, despite how deep and talented the 2014 class is, Butch is doing his best to recruit over every single one of those guys. May not be able to do it, but it's the only way.

I really wanted to see him leading drives in Orange but this doesn't seem to be a tragic story of a kid who did everything right, gave his all, and it just never happened for him.

Riley had it. He handed it back.

Possible. Possible some pieces were there and some were missing. We'll never know in Orange.

What he absolutely did have was an opportunity and that is what he declined.

I appreciate Riley for pushing the other QB's and making them better...not being able to unseat Worley should let all those Riley supporters know that he was not the right QB for us!

no matter how many threads like this get started, i still stand back in awe at the unfiltered insanity that makes its way onto this particular board.

it truly is breathtaking.
