Rings gather dust --Mark Richt

Couldn't agree with him more...however, when you're being compensated at a high level to win championships, I'm afraid it is about winning rings.

Can you blame them? Year in and year out, it was the same story. Start in the Top Ten, then lose at least two head scratchers. You could set your watch to it.

Everyone agreed Richt was overrated til he finally got canned. It's mind blowing how he's better than Saban all of a sudden now that he's gone.

Fifteen years and not a single championship with Georgia talent. His quote sounds nice, but the expectations of the UGA athletic department are definitely warranted.

I think it sounds resentful. He got fired because he didn't win. Coaches are required to make leaders of these players and to win. Richt could only deliver one of those requirements.

Link to anyone who has said he's better than Saban???

I think most have agreed that he may be overrated, but he has been a good, consistent coach for UGA over the span of his career. What most are questioning, imo, is that replacing him with Kirby may not bring them any better results... and based on our own experience... could actually harm the program for a number of years.

Most are gushing over him. Why keep a perennial loser? It's so easy to say Kirby may not bring better results. Ya know what is just as easy? Kirby might lock down Georgia and make them the beast they're so easily capable of being. I hope you wouldn't accept Richt's performance against top 25/10 opponents at Tennessee. There's no reason for UGA to accept it either. For every Ron Zook, Derek Dooley and Mike Shula, there's an Urban Meyer, Nick Saban and Jim McElwain.

They should've brought home at least one NC during the David Greene years.

That 07 team was a perfect shot too. LSU got in title game with 2 losses. If Matt Stafford and No-Show Moreno lay an egg in Neyland and we find our way to SEC title game. Im not complaining though. :)

Again... I don't see where "most are gushing over him". If you can't make a point by actually addressing what has or has not been posted, it really doesn't help your case to embellish things in an effort to substantiate your opinion.

We've "accepted" worse performance than Richt's for the past decade or more, and the odds are more likely that UGA's program may suffer as well. And I'm sorry... but to include McElwain in a list with Saban and Meyer is extremely premature.

A.You need to read more if you've not seen it

B. If we've been accepting of worse performance the past decade, why did Fulmer and Dooley get fired? Oh, because we've not accepted it. Common sense is hard.

I've read the whole thread and again would reiterate that "most" have not been "gushing" over Richt's coaching abilities. Feel free to quote those who have... I'll be impressed if you can come up with more than half a dozen.

I put the word "accepted" in quotes to imply that since firing Fulmer we have, in fact, had far worse performance than UGA. Reading comprehension is also hard.

There's a lot more than one thread about Richt.

We still haven't accepted those results.

I'm comprehending everything just fine. You just aren't paying very much attention.
