RIP Twitter

Yeah, or like Facebook, but I don't see much value in all these places being the same. I don't really like Twitter but I do like that there is a place where serious conversations are happening and the only option to edit is the delete button.

I've never been on Twitter, but this is not the impression I've gotten from people who use it.

Are we being facetious? I know twitter is a cess pool and I rarely go there, but I've heard a million x it's the de facto town square.

Not facetious. I'd say it has replaced the town square, but not necessarily in an equivelant manner. I'd imagine there is quite a lot of chaffe to sort through to find any grain of wheat.

For sure. I'm making no comment about the average quality of conversations, but I am saying all of this speech stuff has been so controversial because people believe it's manipulating important conversations.

But is Elon truly committed to the important work of fostering Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion? This is very important.

Twitter has lost over 5 billion in stock value since it banned several conservative sites...the site was never popular with the under 25 group and will now continue to struggle with newer platforms out. View attachment 338540

A year later, Twitter seems to be doing pretty well and those conservative social sites seem to be sucking pretty bad, especially Trump's site.

You know why don't you, conservatives just want to hate and people get tired of that.

Let’s see how this Elon musk thing plays out

So far it seems Elon isn't welcome there, and while a 9% shareholder in a publicly traded company is huge, it ain't control. The tech industry is very different. A lot of those skills are hard to find. When your workforce turns on you, it can be a disaster. Plus the SEC is really on Musk's tail right now. At this level of ownership, they watch everything you do and can stop you from buying any additional stock in the company (because it is publicly traded). I don't see any changes there anytime soon, especially since he reversed field on being on the board.

Being a non board member the SEC can't stop him from buying up more.

Imagine if 1,000,000's of people were given a platform to act as experts. Then you have Twitter. Then couple that with Twitter picking and choosing who has the moral authority on speech.
