RIP Twitter

Interesting how people are voluntarily exposing their disdain for hearing dissenting voices -- all in the name of preserving "democracy".
I notice more and more that the word “democracy” has been hijacked by the left and twisted to mean only their views are legit. It’s just another reminder that they do not intend to compromise on their goals. We are seeing the road to the end of America.

Nowhere in the Constitution is the word "democracy". That is why they twist the USC

He reminds of Trump at this point. Needs the hoopla, needs attention. Egomaniac.

Oh, don't be so quick to pull the trigger on his degradation. He was the left's hero when he walked away from Trump's economic council.

But now that he's been pointing out the hypocrisy of the left in their fascist ways of suppressing speech, he's suddenly the "enemy."

I can't recall who said it, but someone said "there's hate speech and then there's speech you hate." Musk has just been saying how Twitter and others have been doing the latter rather than being fair.

All speech should be protected

I feel like buying a bunch of Twatter in the hopes that he is successful. I wouldn't care if I just broke even on the deal to sell him my shares.

I find it interesting how few investors seems to have a majority of twitter. Musk, the Saudi, Morgan Stanley, Black Rock and Vanguard have nearly half, is this really just a battle of the billionaires for the "sandbox?"

The left knows it can never win an argument on the merits so they always seek to silence the opposition

maybe a way to own a media company without most people knowing it?

He's done more to advance the green agenda than anyone but suddenly he's dangerous because he thinks more voices should be heard (another issue the left used to champion)

I see Musk as neither liberal nor conservative. He is a member of that increasingly rare species known as a strict pragmatist. He will adopt any approach that simply produces the results he desires. And that is kind of what you want IMO

Apparently everybody is confused by @Grand Vol 's vague and false dig at me.

One thing Musk could do is ban Twitter from Starlink satellite web service. Eventually most Internet traffic will be satellite based leaving traditional ISPs in the same situation to which landline phones were relegated by cellular service.

So he'd be.....suppressing speech?

What's also funny about that original tweet is that Bezos owns the WaPo and has a history of poor working conditions at Amazon.

On a different note I wonder about entities like Vanguard, State Street and a few others. Is their ownership via the funds they manage? Eg. there are Vanguard mutual funds and ETFs that hold Twitter - is that what's counted here? If so, that's quite different than individual ownership.

By that logic, twitter is not suppressing speech, bc their actions are regarding THEIR platform
No, you miss the basic point. With Elon not carrying the app, the tweet is still available to everyone just on a different network. When Twitter blocks a tweet, it is unavailable to EVERYONE. There is no alternate way to see it anywhere. It no longer exists. There is a clear distinction between not carrying a message and not allowing it to exist.
