RIP Twitter

Google your favorite porn "star" on Twitter. If they have a page they likely have explicit material and retweet that of others. Pretty much any fetish you have can be found there.
So if you look for porn, you can find it. Big deal. The internet exists, you can find unspeakable things if you look hard enough.

you don't have to look hard and all I was saying is that Twitter has some pretty extreme commentary and imagery. It's not the pure bastion of truth that it is being portrayed as and it will not become a bigger cesspool than it already is - it's just that the current purveyors of cesspoolery don't want others to be able to share in the fun.

to the first point - expressing one's self and offering products for sale are distinct activities. a corporation can say whatever it wants (within the bounds of existing 1A restrictions). generally the truth in advertising laws are there to reduce market friction by relieving the consumer of the burden of evaluating product claims or preventing the use of products than can cause physical harm.

product claims can be objectively proven true or false. Opinions, viewpoints, etc cannot be objectively proven true or false (despite your and Obama's insistence that the government could do so).

you are conflating product claims with individual expression of ideas, opinions, viewpoints
An opinion that is objectively false is not an opinion but a lie.
Opinions are fine.

That is in schools?? It has no place in the hands of young minds. What I’m the fresh hell made people think this was ok for kids in the first place. Espousing rape, sex in young adolescence and extremely graphic language. People who support this in schools need their heads examined.
Yes it is currently being focused on in Texas i believe...our local head beta BB85 tried to say it was because of the race of the characters, but one I replied with the real reason he moved on...here in FL there is a group of MOMs that have gotteb smut like this taken out of elementary schools

“If we are not serious about facts and what’s true and what’s not, if we can’t discriminate between serious arguments and propaganda, then we have problems,”
“If everything seems to be the same and no distinctions are made, then we won’t know what to protect. We won’t know what to fight for. And we can lose so much of what we’ve gained in terms of the kind of democratic freedoms and market-based economies and prosperity that we’ve come to take for granted,”
Obama said that we live in an age with “so much active misinformation” that is “packaged very well” and looks the same whether it’s on social media or on TV.

These are all from more than 5 years ago.

It sounds really good then there is the censoring of the Hunter Biden story, the Wuhan Lab and countless others due to lying in the communities that we supposed to trust. That's the real disinformation. I know Obama has nothing to do with it specifically but it seems ok when it's his side.

how do you determine the objective truth of an opinion? better yet - who gets to attempt to determine it?
Some are of the opinion that Trump is still president.
Some are of the opinion that the Earth is flat.
Some are of the opinion that man has never walked on the moon.
Can any of those opinions be proven false?

not sure I'd call these opinions as much as beliefs. regardless none of these are a threat to democracy for someone to express.

some believe a man can get pregnant - can that be proven false? the answer is both yes and no depending on how the holder of that belief defines the word "man".

perhaps some can.

Let's take your "some are of the opinion Trump is still President". We hear frequently people saying "He's not MY President". Are they right or wrong? It entirely depends on what they mean by "MY". One on hand if they are a citizen of the US then the current POTUS is their POTUS. On the other hand if by "MY" they mean does the POTUS enjoy their support and match their values then indeed they are not that person's POTUS. Likewise, a true Trump supporter may believe that Trump is the rightful POTUS and thus in their view of what being the POTUS means they could be correct depending on the context of their comments.
