All you Bama, Gator, Aggie, Gamecock, and Dawg fans and Etc: What are your impressions of Strong, or Gundy for that matter being the next head coach at UT. I know some are very undecided about Strong coaching in the ACC and Gundy being in the Big 12 and being the little sister school to OK. Putting that all aside, as a fan of whoever you like, do you think these would be good hires for UT, or do you think hiring one of these canidates would aid in the the continuous domination that you've had over UT in the past 5-10 years or so (Refering to the Gators, Bama, and Dawg fans). Also, do either of these canidates make you worry even in the slightest? :hi:

i think strong and gundy are good coaches.

i generally believe that if we (florida) handle our business properly, then we are going to beat our opponents more often than not.

oklahoma state has become relevant with gundy and i know strong is a good coach. i can see them putting a championship team on the field

i am not sure any hire would make me feel like that a balance of power shift will take place

Strong in my opinion would be the better hire. He comes from a defensive background and I believe will be a very strong recruiter once he lands his best job. He was a very good DC in the SEC so he already has a ton of experience.

I like Gundy but I prefer a defensive minded coach. Okie St. always has to outscore the opponents, at least that's what the scores always seem like.

I figured that, just thought i'd ask anyway. How did you feel about Strong when he was at Florida, and how well do you think he recruits? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get some insight from someone who actually watched his defene first hand and didn't just start researching info about him since this coaching search began.

UF will be the favorite to represent the East next year and they will be in the NC discussion. I am not looking forward to playing UF next year.

This is assuming most of the draft eligible Juniors come back.

I just can't believe Charlie Strong is the best coach Hart can get. Hart obviously has no connections inside the college football community. Louisville? C'mon Man. We will see just how good Charlie Strong is when Louisville plays Florida in the Sugar Bowl. The whole nation will see who Hart picked to lead the TN Football program. :ermm:

strong is a very good x's and o's guy. he's always been calm for a defensive guy. most d-coord's are energetic fireballs and he's never been that way.

has great recruiting connections in florida and has made a winner in louisville by getting the scraps out of florida that no one else takes.

strong will eliminate "stuck on stupid". he also personifies class.

has a very good eye for talent that isn't on everybody's who's who list

Summed up my feelings pretty well. I feel like Strong is the better option of the two.

I see a lot of you guys knocking him for coaching in the Big East. Yes, I understand the Big East is not a powerhouse in college football, but the guy inherited a 4-8 team in that same Big East and turned it into a 10-2 team.

It's amazing the number of Vol fans that are against this hire. Everyone else I've read say it's a great hire. People just want what they think they can't have and are never happy. If coaches read these boards we may never get a coach. Bad fans is one reason Strong wants out of Louisville.

As a Kentucky fan, I'm surprised Strong has emerged as UT's top target (allegedly). I think Strong is a good coach and will be able to recruit for Tennessee. However, I'm still shocked that he seems to be the top option for a program like UT. I definitely think he would embrace the passionate Vols fanbase, but something just doesn't quite seem to fit.

If Rival fans say its a good hire, then they are not threatened and don't think they have anything to worry about. What UT needs is a coach that makes our rivals say "OHH Sh@#!!!!! Strong doesn't do that. unfortunately with what we have left to pick from, there isn't a coach out there that would merit that response unless its a NFL'er not on the list.

We're also not an easy sell. No instate talent and we have to play UF,GA,AL and SC every year(not to mention Oregon coming up)

Then again neither was Arkansas and they got BB.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, but I'll humor you. You'd have preferred?
