UT will have to close really strong to crack the top 15 ...
Recruiting will shake itself out if we win a few games. Check back in February. We are fortunate to be rated where we are now with all the negative pub out there.
The question of how many games we win is vastly overrated, at least as far as its impact on recruiting goes. The important part is whether we win the games we are favored to win, especially later in the season.
I think it is much more important that we show improvement as the season progresses, that we show an ability to adjust on the fly to what our opponents are doing, and that we are both aggressive and innovative in our offensive and defensive schemes.
If we can do those things well, we are positioned to have a very strong close to this recruiting class because we are sitting in good shape with so many top tier recruits.
I agree with a number of others here, and look for a class ranked in the 11-14 range even with the drag that our emphasis on "filling our needs" on the offensive and defensive lines places on our eventual ranking. And make no mistake, filling those needs well is more important to our long term success than how high this class is ranked.
The bottom line is that if we can secure a relatively highly ranked class while fulfilling our severe needs on the OL and DL, we will have had an incredibly successful recruiting season, and will be off to a solid start toward regaining our rightful place as a premier program both in the SEC and nationally.
