I'm glad he's doing better. Hopefully it is never an issue for him again. That's some scary stuff.

Major head trauma? Like the kind that occurs in literally ever single SEC football game?

That was my first thought too, but I'm sure the doctors and coaches have a grasp on the situation. Just hope he and everyone else puts his health above football. With that said I'm pumped to see him back on the field. That depth is desperately needed.

I think Coleman/Sutton have played well but FFS we have horrible depth and especially speed with depth at CB.

We need Riyahd back as soon as he's not only medically 100% but also comfortable and in playing shape. That could be another month.

Sutton has done pretty f'ing good so far..just my opinion..I'm usually drunk and suffering from sun poisoning by time the game starts.

Nickel CBs don't have to run 4.4 forties. Nickel CB is mostly about position and jamming the slot man at the line. Swafford will be in the 2 deep here for awhile until we build elite talent in our secondary. Jones is going to help a lot because because he has experience, but the overall out look for 2014 is looking better:

1st string:
CB: Coleman
FS: Randolph
SS: McNeil
CB: Sutton

2nd String:
CB: Formean
FS: TkJr
SS: McDow
CB: Jones

3rd String:
CB: Payne
FS: Arnold
SS: Lemond Johnson
CB: Gaulden

Nickle: Swafford/Toney

De'andre Payne/Emmanuel Moseley/Rashaan Gaulden might get looks at nickle next season (especially the first two since they enroll early). He'll, TK jr is athletic enough to warrant a look there at least. I'd imagine the coaches try to find a way to get him on the field.

I like what Swafford has done for us so far, but it wouldn't surprise me one but if he's replaced by a new comer next season. We're bringing in some really talented athletes in the secondary. I see Swafford as a depth/special teams guy 2 years down the road if not next year.

That's good he's cleared to play, but I'm skeptical how much he will be able to contribute this year. Sounds like Sutton and Coleman had separated themselves from him before he had to sit out.

We need bodies pure and simple. A JUCO body should have some talent to play some downs.

Xarelto, likely. My hematologist moved me from coumadin to it due to the lack of side effects as severe as those of coumadin, and it takes effect in one dose. Also, no need for weekly bloodwork to regulate it. 20mg and you're good to go. Just watch out for major head trauma

He's 20 with assuming no comorbidty. Obese? Smoke?Drink? Diabetes?

Maybe, maybe not. Swafford has alot to learn and he will learn alot. (if you know what I mean). Either way, if he starts or not it would be nice if we can run DB's in and out and keep fresh legs on the field. I see Swafford doing alot of good things for the Vols in the coming years.

walk-on also missed a tackle that sprung a TD.

If you think Jones can't help this team, I don't know what to tell you.

I never said that Jones couldn't help this team...you just made it sound like we were sending out our jv squad because someone was a walk on.

I worry a little about Xarelto. I just don't have a lot of faith that one cookie cutter dose will perfectly thin everyone's blood to the exact level and keep it there with no need to monitor if the patients blood is too thin or too thick. But that's just me.

I'm very reluctant to jump on the new drug bandwagon..we did it with the COX-2s like Vioxx, Bextra, and Celebrex..and look where that got us..we also switched many of our patients to Pradaxa and the MDs didn't like not having weekly labs so we went back to Coumadin..don't see Xarelto..might be a Medicare formulary issue rather than better treatment though

it is also just possible his medical issues affected his performance, if they are cleared up, he could be competing for a spot real sson.

Have you seen Coleman play? SLOW!!! All the talk about the QB situation, how about that our CB's are terrible!! Give Jones a shot!

Glad he is in. This is a little off topic but is Maurice Couch out for the year due to the improper benefits? Does he have to pay it back before being cleared? Does he have to serve multiple game suspensions before playing again? Thanks.

Good question. Difference in Manziel situation and Couch's?
Yeah, I know Couch doesn't have a Heistman trophy.

Coleman isn't slow and he's playing well this year. Both CB's have been pleasant surprises.

I am glad Jones is returning because he provides depth. However, he never challenged Coleman's spot... no one did. RJ came into fall camp as the starter and was already dropped to #2 behind Sutton BEFORE his injury.
