Road Officiating

First of all, I don’t want to sound like I’m blaming officiating. However…..

I read a stat on Twitter yesterday that the only live ball penalty against Tennessee opponents in three road games was 3 minutes into the Florida game.

In total, the home team in those games was penalized 10/56. Tennessee penalized 27/204. Tennessee was also the favored team in 2/3 of those games.

So, my question is this….

1) Is Tennessee just that undisciplined?
2) is this just a statistical anomaly?
3) is there actually something nefarious going on?
4) is it just referee incompetence/indifference?
Pretty sure I read that Heupel's teams are always very penalized. Plus we've dealt with road bias for years. It is what it is. Instead of looking for an excuse for losing and blaming officials, we need to play better and take it out of the officials hands.

Yea, but so are the other teams going into that game.

This really feels weird this year. I don't trust the NCAA, or the SEC, or the fallible men who are officials. It is also documented that organized crime has regularly influenced the affairs of collegiate sports. This year just really feels off. Capped by what everyone saw in Tuscaloosa. The UK game was the 1st this season that felt fairly officiated to me. Not perfect. But, we're out of the race at this point.

Are these "games" being manipulated? IDK, but something seems amiss. The NFL has seemed that way for a while now, but I quit watching it anyway.
But the UK game wasn't either. Sports Talk J did some research and our road opponents have only had 1 live ball penalty called. That was in the first half of the UF game. Bama only had 1 penalty and UK also had no live ball penalties. So, at home, we have a good pass rush and get a sack or few, but on the road we do not. Pretty easy to figure out why!

Milton Run for first down. Get's it by almost 2 yards. Officials call for video review for the spot. I've never been a blame the refs guy, but they really wanted to give the ball back to Bama on that one.

I'm going to be very interested in the LSU-Bama game with regard to the officiating. An LSU win highly jeopordizes the SEC's chances of being in the playoff, as everything then falls on Georgia. If the theory that the SEC needs to keep Bama at one loss to maximize playoff possibilities is a thing, then we can expect some crazy calls and no-calls favoring Bama at critical points on Saturday night.

One of you mathematically gifted should calculate the statistical probability of going that many plays with no live ball flags ….. then add by a team averaging x number of penalties per game. I bet it’s something crazy

Check out SportstalkJ on YouTube. Number of plays times 11 players = 5940 or .00016 percent.

I belive that when you statistically add up the times a foul could have been called it is over 5000 times....its impossible, period.

I know an Official and he/they love these type responses. They love the ppl that get on their side and berate their own fanbase and say things like accept it, be a man, no excuses, dam the torpedo's, an assist in enabling Official's to do their job poorly without any consequences.

so your saying what we experience is real and that the officials are paid off...correct?

I’ve been saying it for ten years . The only thing worse than sec football refs are sec basketball refs. Both are absolutely terrible. As much money as the conference has that should never be an issue.
