I really see Miss State losing out as they play their last 6 games on road. If they had not salvaged the series finale against LSU, then they'd already be done.

UGA is more interesting, they have 3 at home next week against Arkansas. I don't think Tennessee and Arkansas will get to play another game. For a chance at #12. UGA HAS to win a game at Kentucky. Have to! If they do, they will move up to #13 and be 1/2 or 1 game behind UT with a teabreaker.

Recalcluating as I have looked back at UGA record.

They are 1 of last 7
They are 4 of last 20

They're not taking a series from anyone.

Miss State is not really better at 3 of 15.

Vols look downright hot compared to these opponents

Peaking at the right time however time has run out. Let's hope they get to Hoover and make a run. With all the injuries, cancelled games, misfortunes of bad luck and bad baseball at times, I give the Vols staff and players a lot of credit for still playing tough. I just wish we could "reset" the season and start all over again.......GBO!

Bats are hot and defense looks good. I'm concerned that we don't have enough arm left.

Well. Miss State is doing their part but the Vols really need to split tomorrow and get two next week. With UT's lack of depth in pitching, playing two 7 inn games really helps.

I said last week, it was preferable to be chasing Miss State rather than UGA.

UGA again takes a road series they had no business winning. HOWEVER, what are the odds of them having two good weekends in a row? Especially against a good team like Arkansas chasing an NCAA hosting bid?

I thought Ole Miss would sweep Miss. State as it appears the Bulldogs have mailed it in. Especially after the tough game #2 loss. Will they be excited to come to Knoxville?

However, for 23 years, Tennessee has done poorly in final weekend, backs-against-the wall series for postseason play.

My first season as a regular baseball fan was 1992 where we laid a big egg at Lower Hudson Field against Florida who swept us.

I recall similar finale series over the years including 1999, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2008, and 2010. Sadly, a huge number of these series were at home.

Maybe this can be another turning point for program. A fight-to-the-death mentality.

I still can't imagine this program with our talent being this snakebitten again in 2016.

Yes, Georgia was a huge surprise this weekend, if people were betting on college baseball they would have lost big....

Being the ever optimistic, we still have a shot. If Georgia can win 2 against Arky they deserve to go, I feel that we can take the series from Miss St and I hope we can do it in a sweep fashion........

Once again, we have to win 2 more games than Georgia next weekend,

UT 3-0 and GA 1-2 or 0-3 we are in
UT 2-1 and GA 0-3 we are in
If GA wins 2 they are in
If UT loses 2 GA is in

Also, if we can sweep, I know a tall task, and AL gets swept which is very possible we would edge out them for the 12th spot.

I feel like Karl Rove on Fox news on the last election trying to figure out how Romney could still win..............it's a shame he did't but that's another thread all together. :)

We are now 1.5 up on MSU w/ 2 to play. 1 win wraps up #13
UGA is leading an listless Arkansas team
Vanderbilt hasn't been clutch tonight at plate yet. I still think they want to sweep to get a national seed. A loss means they will have to win a few games back in Hoover next week.

I can't imagine the NCAA let the SEC have half the national seeds.

FSU is losing at home to Clemson though.

Oddly, the SEC may have 4 national seeds but not have anyone 9-16 hosting regional play. Especially with Arkansas stinking it up right now.
