"Originally from Senegal, Ndiaye is someone the staff evaluated in the last couple of months including three weeks ago when Cuonzo Martin was there personally. As most are aware of, Tennessee is already in the middle of a numbers crunch, needing to lose someone from either the roster or among the current three signees to get down to 13 scholarship players for 2013-14.

Some have automatically assumed that bringing Ndiaye in is a sign that Jarnell Stokes has decided to leave. I think that’s probably not the case. Certainly, Stokes could surprise some people and announce that he’s leaving before next week’s April 16 deadline. As of this writing though, it seems like Stokes is going to take some sound advice and return for his junior season. It’s also our feeling that Jordan McRae will make it official this weekend and announce that he’s returning for his senior season as well.

Rather than simply filling Stokes’ spot, it feels to us like bringing Ndiaye in is an insurance policy against Stokes leaving but also a safety net in case someone else from the current roster departs. Martin hasn’t indicated to us that anyone is looking to transfer, but with Thompson already in the boat Ndiaye on an official visit, it makes a lot of sense to keep an eye out for someone deciding to leave for one reason or another."

Maybe we will get to see the team out there we all were hoping for!!!!

Stokes needs to be here 4 years. He's not the prototypical NBA 4 man.

Stokes played better than I expected his freshman year under the circumstances. I thought he struggled more than I anticipated during the first one-third to half of his sophomore year and then became one of the premiere post players in the SEC after his earlier struggles. Watching him a lot this year, he seems to be a NBA level rebounder, probably due mostly to his strength and "nose for the ball" because he doesn't jump that well. He, however, is not a NBA level scorer (post finisher, mid-range or free throw shooter, etc.), ball handler, or defender yet. I am not sure that he will ever have NBA level lateral quickness or jumping ability. When I think about the fact that Jared Sullinger, a player with similar athleticism but far superior scoring ability and similar rebounding ability, not being a lottery pick (the back problems certainly had something to do with it), it becomes hard for me to see Stokes as a NBA player now or even after next year. If he improves the things he can (post moves, mid-range jump shot, free throw shooting, ball handling, and defensive technique/intensity), I think he could be a late first rounder after his senior year. McRae could be a late first rounder or early second rounder next year (not this year) and would be a great fit for an uptempo team like Denver but I think he could struggle in the half-court with the strength of opposing players. I think he needs another year in the weightroom and proving he can be consistent over the course of a whole season. That's just my opinion though.

Missing Skills to make it in the NBA, even at a work in project he needs to have a 15-20 shot, I agree with CAvol stoke should stay 4 years.

Then maybe he should quit now and just go and start making money over seas.

Stokes showed absolutely no improvement in his overall game this past year. Next year's draft from what the experts say is going to be packed with talent. If he stays next year, then he will probably have to stay his Senior year just because of the talent level coming out next year. If he continues to show that he has no 10-15 ft. jump shot, then his stock actually may go down a bit. Best move might be to try to enter this year and he doesn't get drafted, then go start making money over seas. That's 2 years that he could make money in a very short span of about 10 years that he has earning potential. Now I hope that he comes back for sure and plays at UT for his entire 4 years, but that might not be the smartest thing for Stokes.

However; the thinking among most kids is if you have to stay in college 4 yrs you're not a NBA first rounder. Not in total agreement, but that is the perception and thinking these days. The draft itself some what proves this. There was a discussion on XM the other day on this.

Stokes will get such a better opportunity to show his stuff next year with Maymon beside him.

He could skyrocket!

Agree with most of this. I think stokes could be a Ben Wallace type of nba player potentially. Hes a dominate rebounder, which will get u to that level but not as a first rounder. He should come back and further his game. Also the team should be the best we've had in a long time if McRae comes back along with maymon. And being on a successful team will help his stock tremendously.

OR politely ask someone Else to exit. This strategy is commonplace among BB coaches. "Who can we ease out?" Nasty business.

I don't think either are close to being NBA ready...I don't watch the NBA & couldn't care less about it, but I still don't think either would be drafted. I hope they stay

Honestly, if what people are saying about Russ Smith is true (early 2nd round), then I can't imagine why somebody wouldn't take McRae there. He's much better than Russ Smith IMO.

wow, really? I know McRae has several inches on him but Russ Smith is a knat on defense. I guess I may be given Smith too much credit, but for sure couldnt say McRae is MUCH better than Smith. IMO
