Obviously water under the bridge now, but what's the perception around the program if he had landed Nichols? 2 top 25 players, likeky wouldn't have added Ndiaye, and a frontcourt of Maymon, Stokes (?) and Nichols next year?
Know you're just having fun, but ....
Another way of looking at the "what if" scenario: Had Maymon been able to play the SEC schedule last season, UT would have Stokes (?), AJ Davis, and Ndiaye for 2013. That (?) would surely turn into (NBA) and best case, Yemi stays. Martin goes for another BIG in the late period, but after losing Nichols and your "eggs in one basket" theory, it's nowhere near a Maymon/Stokes-type player.
My point is that today's coaches are faced with an ever-changing landscape with guys leaving early (with no warning sometimes) and transfers increasing exponentially. CCM is just reacting to the cards he's dealt just like the other HC's. And he may wake-up and find Maymon 100%, Stokes stays, and he's added BIG depth (Ndiaye) with/wo Yemi. And some poster will say, "What BIG problem?"
