Robert Meachem: The Man, The Myth, The Legend

I'm thinking the only thing that could keep him here is his relationship with Trooper. Even that won't keep him here, though. He's been talking about the NFL since he's been at UT. Add to the fact that the last two big stars (Jason Allen, Justin Harrell) to come back for their senior years had season ending injuries that may have really hurt their draft status.

I doubt he would stay just to break joey kent's career receiving record. I think he's playing on sunday next year, fellas.
I think it will depend on what other receivers go pro and where he is projected to get drafted.

I can only wish that were true......

Yeah, I posted that early in the season. I've changed my mind. Enjoy watching Robert Meachem while we still can, because he's a 2007 NFL draft 1st or 2nd rounder.

Maybe he stays for his degree...He sounds like a smart kid and maybe he will want his degree...But dont get me wrong, If I had the oppurtunity for the $$ of the NFL, id probably leave too.

All I care about right now is how Up is he for this trip to Arkansas, along with all ther WRs, this game will won or lost depending on how well they do.

I sit right behide the Tennessee bench last game. After Crompton missed a couple of shots, I saw Compton sitting on the "bench", where Ainge usually talks to upstairs, and Meachem standing beside him. Meachem is kind of pushing his hands down, and telling Crompton to calm down. Good leadership here.

Unfortunately I'm in agreement that Meachem will not stick around for his senior year. However, that being said I can't blame him. More than likely as a fourth year junior he's close to completing his degree this year, and the injury risk is simply not worth it. I do believe however that his decision could be influenced by the amount of quality WR in the draft. I think if guys like Ginn, and Calvin Johnson, Dwayne Jarrett, etc. all declare then he may reconsider, but I'm not holding my breath.

I do think he goes on the list as one of the best to come through "wide receiver U". While he may not rival Joey Kent's all time mark, he's a much better WR.
