Robert Reich Tells Dems to Give Kyrsten Sinema ‘the Backs of Their Hands’

That guy was serious as a heart attack.
My bet would be that he was also at a Pelosi level of acute inebriation when he typed that. Someone I am sure quickly advised him to clean up his mess and he did so. Today he is sober and trying to convince us it never happened and we “misinterpreted” his innocent admonishment of the Honorable Senator from Arizona

Nope....
Here's his quote from the article linked...
“Tonight, Republican senators lined up to shake Kyrsten Sinema’s hand,” Reich’s tweet read. “Democratic senators should have given her the backs of their hands.”

He is clearly NOT saying they should give her a backhand.

He is talking in past tense. He is making a play on words. It was unwise because it is so easily taken out of context or misinterpreted (as evidenced by this thread) so he took it down.
So he is saying they should have slapped her yesterday (past tense), not slap her right now? WHEW, I feel better now

lol.....you guys have to be sore from all of that stretching.
But even in the worst case scenario, that is a significant difference.
You know what is the same as it ever was?
You guys desperately trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Nope, giving someone a "backhand" is a very specific action. I have no doubt he was trying to be clever, being champion of the left.

There is only one way to give someone a backhand....... He went too far..... He was called on it...... He took it down.

So if Trump had said someone should give a backhand to Liz Cheney, you are saying Democrats would have just ignored it?

They WILL and DID paint McCain and Romney as principled “good” Republicans up until the moment when they won the Republican nomination, then they overnight became the literal spawn of Satan. Then, once the campaign is over and they have lost, they return to causing trouble for the rest of the Republican Party and they once again return to Sainthood status
Same as it ever was

But I do appreciate the Talking Heads reference. I've always been a huge fan of David Byrne. Smart guy!!

“For me Trump was not so much a shock; we knew who he is,” Byrne told NME. “He was around New York before that, in the reality show [The Apprentice], we knew what kind of character he was.”

He added: “What shocked me was how quickly the Republican party all fell into line behind him, behind this guy who’s obviously a racist, misogynist liar and everything else. But it’s kind of encouraging – although it’s taken four years and with some it’s only with the prospect of him being gone – that quite a few have been breaking ranks. There are some possibilities of bridge building being held out.”

You should have said "given" a back hand. Past tense. Big difference.
And Trump has said much worse. Which is precisely why had Trump said it, people would have been all over it.

This is the part of the thread where the lefties attack Trump to change the subject

Trump was and is a horrible man. That does not in any way excuse other politicians from being horrible people. Wasn’t the whole goal to be BETTER than Trump?

That is certainly the goal. And quite possibly the most easily attainable goal in history.
I'm hoping we are not just better, but much better.

Keep pretending your side’s excrement doesn’t stink as bad as the opposition. It is a bold strategy but I am sure it will work

Well, Robert Reich obviously isn’t. Remember the fainting and pearl clutching when Sarah Palin’s PAC put out a list of Democrats they were “targeting” for defeat? WOW, it was a veritable hornet’s nest of feigned outrage.

It's not sides. It's Trump vs. not Trump.
The repubs have made the horrible mistake of letting Trump represent their side.
I never thought repubs stunk as much as Trump.

Yeah, that was equally stupid to this.
