Zep...as PJ pointed out, you believe states are free to have their own income tax rates (or zero like TN) but that somehow those same state legislators elected by the voters are qualified to decide how much of your paycheck to take (before you ever get your check btw) but are somehow NOT qualified to decide whether or not they should force doctors etc to hand out free contraceptives? Or where/when/how to allow abortions? You do not see the inconsistencies in your position?
It is much easier for a person to change a state law than federal law...as intended. You can vote or even run for office yourself if you strongly desire change. These things were meant to be decided at the state level in our representative republic. That is how the framers/founders of our country intended our government (small and limited gov) to function. They greatly feared federal overreach and big government and tried to prevent it. Change, if needed, begins at home at the local and then state level. Not huge sweeping federal policies requiring massive resources , oversight, and money.
As posted above:
Why do some people believe the government should be the answer to everything? Involved in every aspect of our daily lives? It is insanity. Straight up. No coincidence that socialism and communism both involve the state controlling every aspect of life. That is the EXACT reason that it fails every single time while capitalism flourishes.
Why in the Hell would government need to be involved in contraceptives? Have you ever needed the State to buy you a condom? That is stupid on its face. Why is government involved in marriage? Marriage is a Christian institution described in the Bible thousands of years ago. Not a federal issue or construct. It is a great example of government getting involved in something it has no business with.
Government should not be involved in peoples everyday lives except to insure their safety by protecting folks persons and property from being taken or destroyed by others. All this other gov crap is just that: crap. Unnecessary and often times invasive.
