Romney/Paul 2012?

And I have a hard time thinking Romney would pick someone so easily mocked by the Obama campaign. No way this is true.

What is so easy to mock about Paul? I mean, everyone is a target, but he's no Palin, Biden, or Quayle.

Also if Obama is targeting the VP for mockery, it's probably an indication that he's getting desperate.

Because he frequently (not occasionally) comes across as unbalanced, a bit nuts, irascible old coot, etc. Come on, you know it's true.

I'm having a hard time squaring up their foreign policy and military views

That's because Paul's are so far out of the mainstream that he can't ever be aligned with anyone in regular politics.

Look, rhetoric wise a lot of what Paul says about budgets and foreign policy can be embraced. Interesting intellectual exercise, and all that. But I don;t think you could find 10 % of the American people who would actually vote for what he seems to think, on a practical level, much less entrust him with the VP slot.

Its just too unrealistic.

No less realistic than a functioning welfare state.

They got Rs next to their names, so they're both racist. They got that in common at least

Not even I blame him for what was in those old newsletters. He doesn't come off as racist to me. Neither does Romney, for that matter.

Heck, if any of them stepped forward and made an incendiary enough comment to bait the base into thinking he was going to go after the black welfare moms, he'd probably win the nomination in a landslide.

But that would be toxic for the general.

That's why I differentiated between occasional and frequently. Biden is a bit loony, sure.

But Paul is campaigning on it.

Yeah, innovative and reasoned ideas are appreciated everywhere but in politics. It's just "lunacy" in that arena.

If Romney picked Paul for VP, the Obama folks would spontaneously combust with joy.

LG. "IF" it was a Romney/Paul ticket vs. Obama and company who do you think would pull the (I)'s? Whoever pulls in the (I)'s will win this race (IMO)and you know where Dr. Paul's support comes from.

The ticket just wouldn't make any sense. The base would roll their eyes.
