Ron Paul Can't Win

This is the best (or worst) Ron Paul hatchet job I've read thus far. Actually, I'm not sure if this just isn't more of an attack on "stereotypical" GOP voters in Texas.

Why Ron Paul's Racist Newsletters Didn't Hurt Him in Texas - Molly Ball - Politics - The Atlantic

Of course, we thought we could use this to our advantage. So, in the focus group, we let participants look at the newsletters and told them that Ron Paul's Political Report was listed in the Neo Nazi directory with the Ku Klux Klan and other hate groups.

The focus group got really quiet. Then one man pops off, "There's nothing wrong with the Ku Klux Klan."

Another man in the group says, "The Ku Klux Klan has done a lot of good things. For example, if a man wasn't taking care of his family, the Ku Klux Klan would take him down to the town square and tar a feather him."

Next a woman says, "It's the media. They never report the good things that the Ku Klux Klan does."

Honestly I agree with the writer about the points of getting nothing passed as President. I honestly feel that winning the Senate right now is more important than winning the presidency. Ultimately they are going to write the bills.

That Paul will veto. If it's between Romney and Obama, I agree with you. If it's between Paul and Obama, then president is much more important.

It's getting pretty ridiculous that this story has any legs. You gotta give him the benefit of the doubt. You can read the thousands of speeches and interviews he's given over the last 30 years and you won't find one racist slip up. If he is a racist, how is it possible he has never slipped up when put on the spot? Why would he slip up on something calculated and premeditated like a newsletter? I think it's obvious that he didn't have a hand in it.

His friggin' name is on the newsletter. I doubt he's racist, but this is bad.

Do you think he wrote them? Honestly?

Probably not . . . But I struggle to figure out a way to defend it.

Probably? C'mon, man... you don't have to hedge. S**t or get off the pot. Take a stand on this. Either he did or he didn't. Don't sit on the fence.

You know this is just a bogus charge that has been brought up and shot down several times before now.

Just be honest. I know it hurts to concede a point to me after I've been proven right on this site time and time again. But real talk... you know he didn't write that crap.

What's bogus? Is that his name on the newsletter or isn't it?

I'd guess that he's not racist and Herman Cain isn't a complete philanderer . . . But distractions are what they are and it doesn't take much to kill traction.

True story:

I saw a car on I-75 this past Wednesday speeding northbound between Kennesaw and Cartersville. Guess what the Gwinnett County license plate said? "GA VOL"...

Would you like to comment on your reckless driving a few days ago?

I had Erik Ainge in the car and we recognized you and were trying to reach safety.

Wow... William Randolph Hearst would be proud of these guys.

First you create a headline that leads the reader to believe one thing, then in text of the piece, you admit that your so-called evidence is sketchy.

Ron Paul Touts Newsletters In 1987 Interview (VIDEO)

It is worth noting that the most controversial of the Paul newsletters -- Ron Paul Political Report -- was started in 1987, while the Ron Paul Investment Letter and the Ron Paul Survival Report began in 1985. Likewise, most of the inflammatory material that has surfaced (much of it published Friday by the New Republic) came years after the C-SPAN interview.

Paul may, indeed, have not authored the political and cultural commentary that would make these newsletters such a political liability. The most common suspicion is that the material was written by Lew Rockwell, his former chief of staff and the man listed as editor on these letters' mastheads.

Mining stocks IMO are the worst investment. I'd seriously recommend an Airline or even a Chinese reverse split stock over a miner. Most of them are sitting at 52 week lows today, and most of them hardly moved when gold doubled and silver tripled.

If a broker recommended this portfolio to a normal client, they would be sued, and would lose, and multiple people behind that broker would be looking at fines and dings on their record.

If he only owned bullion, I would respect that.

Unfortunately that's true. Cain might've survived if there was one accuser, but he had like 10 or something.

Ron Paul is one isolated incident that appears to be someone else's actions. I hope he can weather it.

If it was Lew Rockwell he needs to step up and take the blame. Love that guy, but he's gotta jump on the grenade if he said that shiz.

Agreed, I question the miners also. I just don't understand why he would invest in those stocks.

Not 1 American company? Heaven forbid he would own 100 shares of Coke. He could stick with the mining theme and own some CAT. But nope, would rather own mines HQ'd in Toronto

Yeah man I gotta say, I have never seen a portfolio like this, never.

He must be making money.

Some of his holdings might be, but it's really hard to make money while your riding the stocks down to 52 week lows. I really don't care that is his money, not mine. I don't back the man because of his portfolio I back him for the POTUS.

Question: Why would he or should he get rid of them right now if they are at 52-week lows?

Well it might be to late, it might just be best to hold them now and hope for a rebound in the stock. But, just because they are at 52 week lows doesn't mean they can't go lower.
