Ron Paul Can't Win

In most of the cases I've seen, it is just the opposite. He votes against the spending bills first. Then, the end up passing anyways. Now, there is this money available that he didnt request. Now what should he do? Should he fall on the sword and refuse the money for his district, only for so other representative to come in and spend the money anyways? Or should he at that point not leave the money on the table and make an attempt to bring the district's money back from Washington somehow?

I really want to know what the correct answer is on this. The money is going to be spent anyways once the bills are passed. Should he let it sit on the table or bring it home? Or is there a 3rd option that would be more acceptable? I would really like to know.

We have been down this road before. I sided with you on it. Others will still claim he is a hypocrite. It's a vicious circle that goes nowhere.

If LG thought he could win the nomination, he would be singing a different tune. Trust me

Valid point.

But I've always said I respected Paul's intellectual honesty. I may not agree with him, but he is more a thinker, less a politician. And I simply like the fact that he earnestly broadens the debate and has the big picture in mind.

Honestly, I think he makes a better philosopher than candidate.

You've asked this a couple of times in this thread, I'd really like to see someone answer it as well.

I see both sides of the argument. I think it comes down to whether you believe the "but everyones doing it" defense is acceptable in this situation.

Again, are you arguing that once the bills are passed, that Ron Paul should allow other districts to use the money instead of him bringing it home?

That's all I'm asking.

That Beinart article is very interesting and the take on an isolationist GOP versus the neocons of the 90's and the Bush administrations, verging on imperialist in their thinking, is very apt.

What isolationism do you refer to? I have heard this from a lot of sources. Is isolationism defined as:

isolationism - definition of isolationism by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

A national policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries.

the policy or doctrine directed toward the isolation of a country from the affairs of other nations by a deliberate abstention from political, military, and economic agreements.

because I don't see Ron Paul hating on this stuff. I see him criticizing unnecessary military action or treaties/commitments that don't benefit us, only the other country. Am I missing something?

I've never seen this type of venom aimed at any other candidate in my entire life. The GOP is actually engaged in voter suppression and telling people to not participate in the political process. WOW!

As a Paul supporter, I watched your video; not sure where the outrage is. She seemed right on almost everything. No venom. I would say that most of his supporters would not vote for Obama though.

I listen to Michael Savage sometimes on the way home from work.Yesterday, he was ripping RP apart. Saying, he was a jew hater and a madman who is incapable of leading this nation. He brought up over and over how he hates the military, (never citing that RP gets more donations from active military than the other candidates combined) It was really sickening. He just went on and on. The venom was terrible.
Just remember, they only smear you, when you are winning.

I heard on Morning Joe this morning that Paul has instructed some supporters to shave and cover their tats before they go to the caucus.
