What ideas of either do you like?
Thompson:
1. Against abortion and cloning
2. Against same sex marriage.
3. Tax Cuts
4. Teach family values in public schools
5. Increase penalties for drug violations
Paul:
1. Lower taxes
2. Wants to eliminate taxes on SS
3. Wants to put a hault to illegal immigration
That good enough for you?
Testy aren't we? Just asked what issues of each you liked. but since you came out firing, what makes these items any different for any of the other candidates? And "teach family values in school"? For someone who is all about states' rights, this is a stretch to achieve from the federal level. Who's family values?
The basic ideals that have been core values of our nation. Not mom raising 11teen kids to get a bigger benefit check, with dad in prison for robbing someone, you know, 2 parents?
Discouraging Vulgarity, and keeping an educational environment? Rather than "Joe swears and bites the guidance counselor because his dad is a drunk and his mom is a street pharmacist", say "Joe is a fork up, and should talk to a counseler before he is allowed in public school, where he serves no purpose other than to distract the other kids"
Or maybe, give tests and develop a miracle drug to prevent parents noted above from breeding. I don't need to quote the "Bill Cosby" speech, do i?
So you mean making sure schools are social training programs rather than teaching the basics? And is this something Fred and the federal government not only CAN do but SHOULD be doing?
Absolutely, my friend. I am registered GOP, and will vote for Ron in the primary, as he will be on the ballot. But he won't get the nod, nor will Fred. So i will vote Libertarian.
Not a Thompson guy, but he is an acceptable choice, to me. The other GOP top tier, not so much.

Yeah, most likely neither of them will get it. Hope one of the two get it though.
So where in the Constitution does it say the Federal government has the power and authority to teach values (still not sure who's) to kids in schools?
Wow. You're bright. How did you figure that one out? I only commented on another person's post. And odd, so did you but never answered my question to you on it. Bright on the topic pickup but missed out on answering a question on your own response. Was it because you could not figure it out? Sorry you can't make a statement and answer a simple question on your statement.
My problem with Paul is that he has big ideas that often make sense, but when he starts talking about implementation things sort of fall apart and he comes off as a nut.
