Ron Paul

Paul has some noble ideas, but the implementation is where things tend to breakdown.

It's understandable why the implementation may concern some... because following the Constitution has rarely been tried.
That's bull . . . I've got a ban button, but I'm allowing free speech right now.

We haven't had a tru Constitutional president or Congress for that matter in my lifetime. That is the truth.

Agreed. Though the wording can be applied to ones beliefs, i guess. Paul is a true Libertarian, and i love that. But the party has some weird ideals, especially on hard drugs. In a perfect world, it makes sense, as their line takes human decency and honesty for granted. However, that isn't going to happen in our society. Probably never in any society, past or present.

I'll vote for him in the primary, out of principle. I imagine he won't drop out, he's in it to spread his message as far as it will go. If anyone takes it to heart, he's made progress.

I agree with voting one's principles and such, but reality says that for all those non-Hillary supporting voters need to spend their energy and votes in an effort to defeat her. Forget who most reflects your own ideals, figure out who the heck has a chance to beat Hillary and vote such. Otherwise, your vote has been wasted and you'll have Hillary as pres.

But that's where I'm torn. Do I only vote for someone to defeat her and get left with someone I only somewhat believe in? I would just feel much better going down with my best choice than compromise.

I just don't know anymore...

I never have liked to notion of voting against someone as opposed to voting for someone. Seems like that was the Dems strategy in 2004... "Anybody but Bush". They didn't seem to have anything to offer as reason to vote for them, so they rather tried to create an anti-Bush theme.

With modern politics, we are definitely choosing the lesser of the available evils. Nobody reflects my beliefs, so this year I see my vote as one against Hillary, since she's the strongest of all the candidates and is absolutely as far from my own beliefs as possible.

I used to think like this but have changed the last few elections.

Maybe it is just because of who I am and what I believe but very rarely do I find a candidate whom I agree with on many issues.

With that said, I also find that I VERY MUCH disagree with some candidates and a lot of their issues.

So, I tend to vote for the candidates whom I agree with but also vote AGAINST those whom I disagree with a LOT

I don't think there is anything wrong with voting against someone if you don't feel they would represent you in the way you would want.

Paul still has time to build support and increase his base. He's doing well raising money.

you'd be voting for the third place, at best, finisher.

Say you had this the choice in front of you:

Option 1: Death by lethal injection
Option 2: Death by electric chair

Now they give you another option. The third option takes you down another path, a path not too many are willing to take. They say the chance of survival is 8.33%. Now which path are you going to take?

(Vote Ron Paul) :p

the fallacy here is that chance of Paul winning is not 8.33%. It's zero. Additionally, the two main options in your little scenario have equal outcomes, which is not true of the potential pres candidates. One will lean heavily toward socialism as quickly as possible, the other will not. The other might not be great, but I know socialism is not his default scenario.
