I kind of feel bad for secchamp2012. Slay and Carlus is actually a pretty good comparison. This year’s team could have really used a bad ass like either one of them. I’ll toss CJ Black in there as well.

The battles between Doug Roth and Curly Neal were epic too !

I think it's far more likely Barnes chooses not to mention Covid has been an issue for Fulkerson

Barnes' style would be to never use the virus as an excuse, while knowing it was definitely a factor
Why did Barnes mention it when he was on a National syndicated talk show last week?

If we had Roth, we would be vying for a 1 seed. He had skills, despite being blind in one eye. He could step out and hit the 3. Made a 3 and flipped the middle finger to the crowd on the road.

My first year of following UTBB was 1987, I was 9. As most probably know that was the inaugural season for the Vols in the TBA. Looking back that probably should have been an NCAAT tourney team with Greg Bell, Ian Lockhart, Clearance Swearengen, Mark Griffin (my favorite player back then next to Magic ), DyRon “Soul Glo” Nix (RIP) & the aforementioned Doug Roth. Roth was a Knoxville product and tough as nails, he was a favorite target of student sections across the conference. Dewayne Schintzius (also RIP) plus goggles yet minus the mullet. Here is a funny thread from tiger droppings about the 1989 🖕 given by Roth to the LSU student section .

He did that to the LSU crowd when they kept screaming “Shoot!” Stupid Cajuns forgot he was a big who could actually shoot.
