Half-brother = half blood relative

step-brother = no blood relative
right

and to clarify even more if either if your parents goes and has a kid with someone that is not your other parent they are your half-whatever. if your parent marries someone else who has kids those kids are your step-whatever.

as a bonus if there is a person who you have interest in if they could warrant a direct invite to your family reunion it is not cool to do them no matter how many times removed that cousin is.

threads like this make me not so proud to be from the great state and are the definition of /facepalm

Definitely a facepalm moment. I interpreted the post you said was wrong as the father marrying into a family that the mother already has kids. Not that the father married and then had more kids. The latter would be half-siblings.

The Cheese post was a bit excessive IMO... Its always brought up when a guy has multiple kids from multiple women. What about a situation where a woman has 3 kids from 3 fathers??? This happens almost as much as the previous mentioned situation.

Please detail why that is wrong?
/facepalm read above

everyone here realizes that just by being here you must be on the internet and since you are on the internet there are many many resources out there to stop people who might be a bit less educated from putting their foot in their mouth? google, dictionary.com to name 2 among thousands of resources that can stop you from being "that guy". Honestly one would think on a topic like this one would not need that but wow.... just wow

and by the way when you hit the space bar and there is a red line under the last word you typed it does not mean u get bonus points it means the word is spelled wrong. right click on it to get a correct spelling. unless you have not updated your browser in the last 10 years or have disabled the feature all modern browsers and most cell phones have spell checkers built in.

Wouldn't know the difference, as I grew up with same father and mother that have been married going on 50 yr anniversary. Guess its the new generation and world we live in now with fathers having 50 kids spread around the country with different mothers! Example: Travis "Cheese" Henry JUST SAYINGGGG

Right. "Stepbrother" is such a confusing, rarely used term; mainly only academics and people with multiple illegitimate have any idea of its meaning.

If your father had another child with a mistress that would make them your half-brother / sister. If he left your mom and got remarried to another woman that had kids those children would be your step-brother/sister. Hope that helps.

Actually, he's right.

It only took one word for your entire post to be wrong.

Ironic...

I am posting from a work computer with extremely limited site access and surprised this is an approved (slipped through the cracks) site. I can't go to any news, sports, gaming, or any other type of entertainment driven site. It's not my fault that IT hasn't updated our browser, let alone the actual PC's. Grammar police at it again I see. Also, if you notice, your interpretation of the post in question is what is wrong, not my reply. Just remember, keep it civil and everyone on here with a post count over 100 is going to make some type of grammatical error at one point or another so your time will come... I just hope I'm the lucky SOB to catch you! Bahahaha

I'm clocking out and headed home... I'll let The almighty Orange Pearl explain to you why you are wrong or you can just go back and read the post for yourself and my reasoning for you being incorrect in your interpretation.

Cheerio,

If the wording was like the second version, then you would be correct and I would be "wrong"

As it is written, your interpretation is what is in question...

Winning like Charlie Sheen runs in the family... My step and half siblings agree... Bahahaha

actually he is right shows me what i get from replying via my cell phone and misreading I apologize to orange bison for that. I skimmed over it and must have transposed meanings.

So you apologize to Orange Bison but not to the person you were "correcting?"

I see how it is... :D

No hard feelings

^ I think he is wrong. If u share only one same blood parent they are half brother or sister. Step bro or sis is by marriage.

I said if his father remarried and the woman already had kids. That is why he just thought I was wrong instead of me actually being wrong.

For those of us who already knew the difference between step and half, does anyone else think we should do this besides me?

Maybe some friendly competition will get his half brother to focus on his scholarship more.
