Most of us can see that lying to cover it up is worse than the infraction that has surfaced.

also, most of us realize that the hypocrisy is the biggest issue at the moment.

You are absolutely correct. No one would have been overly upset about the secondary violations, but the lies by the entire staff and the hypocrisy is the reason most reasonable folks are extremely upset. MHF wants, as do others, to minimize it by only talking about secondary violations vs. paying players as if there is no other issues.

that was sweet use of bolding to make your point.

Witch Doctor say the arrogance in which Pearl initially handled this with the NCAA was why this escalated. Witch Doctor say probation coming..Bruce survives as coach.

(in Witch Doctors opinion)lol

Please read his statement again as he professes there are plenty of coaches who don' knowingly violate rules. Just give me one sir. Bruce tries to portray himself as pure and clean which he is not. The entire landscape of collegiate athletics is a filthy game that some play better than others. He wins and that is what matters most.

Wrong. I stated that there are plenty of coaches who don't knowingly violate rules and then lie to the NCAA in order to cover it up all the while pretending to be Mr. Honesty.

But you said secondary violations are cheating. Once again, provide us a list of coaches that you want whose program has never committed a secondary violation.

If that's all that occurred with Pearl, then you might have a point. Unfortunately, he did more than just commit a secondary violation; therefore, you have no point.

Once again you cannot stick with your argument. If you didn't realize you said the secondary violation at UWM shows he has always cheated. So once again show us a list of guys that's programs have never committed a secondary violation.

glossing over the "knowingly repeated secondary" is interesting to me.

I want Pearl to stay, but the mental hoops of those dying to replace his pedestal position are borderline insane. The issues don't stop at the current public ones. He is not a saint and the fact that others are similar doesn't change that many people don't like what has transpired.

You might have taken it that way, but the damning issue he was pointing to was the fact that he, without a doubt knew he was breaking the rules when he did it at UT. Call that what you will, but there is no lumping this in with "secondary" violations, especially given reasoning for the lies that followed.

The point was that he was knowingly violating the rules. That's cheating. Many coaches negligently commit secondary violations in recruiting. Pearl did it intentionally and then tried to cover it up.

the existence of the secondary violation is frankly to help compliance when a coach inadvertently steps over a line. Intentionally stepping on that line is an altogether different animal. The NCAA made that real clear to Kiffin while he was here. Blatant disregard, for even the petty rules, is grounds for ugliness.

That's exactly right. If it weren't for the unbelievable hypocrisy of his actions, it wouldn't bother me nearly as bad.

You just said here that secondary violation at UWM was cheating.

The point was, he did the exact same thing at Tennessee after he knew he broke the rules at UWM. That's a pattern of cheating. Not sure how you can't grasp that...well, never mind, maybe I do know.

Will you go back and look at what you replied to. I mentioned that I don't go by internet message board rumors as evidence to show he is a habitual cheater. You replied with a secondary at UWM. Therefore, you implied that a coach that committed a secondary violation at UWM is a habitual cheater. Oh wait, you don't know what implying is.

are you really trying to peddle this? You seriously think the man was trying to say that a secondary at UWM was evidence of serial cheating? Seriously?

Does your infallible logic monitoring diploma not beep off the wall when you try to pass crap like this off in an argument?

Once again, you see the reasoning behind not trusting "well documented message board rumors" that you use to say that Bruce has been a habitual cheater is whole career. I guess you believe that Eric Gordon is in jail for murder and we are currently looking for a new basketball coach.

Yep, that big ESPN story showing how he cheated at Milwaukee was just pure fantasy. Good point.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying

Thanks for the sanity witch doctor. Kind of sad/hilarious that people act as if extra phone calls and bags of cash are both CHEATING and they hate CHEATERS. It is absurd...

If you are speeding you are a LAWBREAKER

If you rape someone you are a LAWBREAKER....

Most of us can see the big difference.

How many coaches have lost 25% of their salary and the staff's salary for lying?

I'll start a list of coaches that have had their salary reduced 25% for lying.

1. Bruce Pearl
Now it's your turn.

I'll start a list of UT coaches that have gotten UT to the Elite 8.

1. Bruce Pearl

I will also start a list of the head coach at UT next year and thereafter:

1. Bruce Pearl

But VolNation is exactly the forum to present the information in. I guarantee there are a lot more people who would like to be aware of the info than the handful that who get their panties in wads (for no good reason, because the OP said he had no idea if it was true). I don't know what else to say if you disagree that this site is the one of the only appropriate places to present such information.

So I take it you support anyone posting any kind of drivel they want AS LONG as they establish they don't know if it's true??? Listen how dumb this is.... THEY ARE POSTING SOMETHING THAT THEY ADMITTEDLY DON'T KNOW IF IT IS TRUE OR NOT??!!??
