i found this pretty interesting, apparently it looks like tyler is going. i have been wondering why we are bringing in juco players because we have 1 scholarship and its going to kenny hall. so bruce pearl either knew tyler was going nba or was planning on kicking someone off the team, which apparently tabb may go. wouldnt be too bad if west was coming in but supposedly west is having problems as well in the classroom, and may not be here next year. just curious on everyones thoughts!

Sucks if West isn't eligible to play, I really wanted to see what he could contribute. As for Tyler, IMHO going out after this year may not be the best decision.

He will gain nothing by coming back. I would love to see it but if he asked me what was best for HIM I would have to say bail.

I agree. Tyler should have left after last year. He was just too inconsistent this year and his draft stock has dropped. If he left last year, he would have been a mid-round pick, but now he will struggle getting in the first round. However, he did improve his perimeter game this year though which is what he needed to do to improve his stock. Like I said before, he was just too inconsistent this year stats wise.

sorry guys not sure how i managed to forget the link, it was right on go vols xtra site. something i just thought of, daniel west was geting a scholarship, when he was ruled ineligible we get the scholarship back, right? so we really have 2 scholarships, childress and daniel wests, so kenny hall and then if we do get the juco goins we do have a scholly for him so tabb wouldnt have to be let go. or if west is eligible then he gets the scholly we lose tabb i guess and sig the juco, not to sure how its gonna play out, but it should be interesting.

Basketball vols could take a significant hit this offseason...I guess its true that the Vol football and Bball can't both be succesful at the same time...Kiffin comes in and Bruce's squad starts stumbling.

I'll be highly suprised if smith is drafted earlier than mid to late second round. It would not suprise me if he had to sign as an unrestricted free agent either.

Ericvol, at this point, the most successful program at UT of late has been the basketball program. I wouldn't call hiring a new coach "successful"

Football isn't successful yet. Kiffin has come in a done a lot of talking and gotten the excitement back up but he hasn't coached a down yet. So it's premature to be saying football is successful already.

thats a shame if CBP blows out Josh Tabb. if anything cut loose Bobby Maze and his erratic play. Tabb at least calmed the storms when things got out of control under Maze!

the basketball program shouldn't be called successful this year.

Yes it should be called successful.

To each his own. I guess you're one of those who make Pearl out to be the next coming of Knight because our program has historically sucked. I love that stuff. Guess our football approach should be getting close to that view as well after the last decade. A bowl game and limited competitiveness in any game that matters is about par. Sweet. I'm all in.

How dare you ridicule Tanning Bed Bruce? Do you not realize he is not Wade Houston, Jerry Green, or Buzz Peterson? Had Saint Pearl not been hired, Tennessee would have just completed its fourth consecutive 0-32 season and TBA would have been turned into a giant storage unit because Alumni Gym would be a sufficient venue to handle the 723 people who show up for games.

I compare the UT basketball situation to my Chicago Cubs situation. I like that Lou Pinella has gotten the Cubs to win their division 2 years in a row, but if he does it again this year and then goes 0-3 in the playoffs, then I'd like to see him shown the door. I don't care that that Cubs have stunk forever.

Talked to Wayne and he said that he was leaving, which is fine by me. Hate to hear West can't cope with the classroom. I just don't get that. It's really not hard to pass classes, and I'm sure he's majoring in basketweaving or something retarded.

Why do you not find it relevant to compare our current success against our past failures, hat? I really don't understand that. This program is heads and shoulders above where we were previously, but we are not at the level of some of the best programs out there. We may get there, but we aren't there yet. Much of your beef with Pearl there is little rationale for. It appears to be more of a bias than anything else. We aren't North Carolina. We aren't going to be able to hire a Roy Williams or a John Calipari. We are lucky to have what we have and if Pearl is gone, then we are right back to hiring a guy from a lower tier program and hoping we hit the jackpot with him.

I'm not singing the praises of Bruce Pearl -- I'm just saying he's better than what we have, and better than what we would be able to get to replace him. Look at Kentucky's current situation. They are Kentucky and they aren't going to be able to attract a big name coach. Sometimes you just gotta be happy with what you have.

I realize none of this is going to change your mind because you are stubborn and convinced that you are right no matter what the evidence may be to contradict you. But an opposing viewpoint is necessary here.

Because I'm not the type of person who eats in a decent restaurant and proclaims it Five Star worthy because the previous three places I ate were awful. I have standards.
