Running on 3rd and long.

Hmm. Ok, thanks. I thought there were more runs on 3rd and 4 or more, but there only about 4. Maybe it’s more about 2nd down runs instead as others suggest.

Well, it’s always about something….

I believe his play calls is all about pressure and the inability for the OL to protect. They get dictated by the flow of the game and what is happening. As others said, a few were dictated by field position, one Sampson run was from the 5 yard line to get more room to punt. The Nico run when 3rd and 20 was a scramble away from pressure.

I've found that if people recall a few plays that sticks in their minds and feels like it happens all the time. It’s just human nature. But when you review the situations and plays, most of the time you can see the reasons for a play call. We all have that type recall when the game action is going on.
That’s exactly what it is. It’s the age old fan reaction whenever we run the ball or throw a screen on 3rd and long. It’s video game play calling mentality.

Always remember...good drives end in kicks. If your drive ends in a kick, it couldve been alot worse. It means you gained points or field position.
Came here to say this. Risking turnovers and sacks on low percentage plays is counterproductive. Play complimentary football and let your defense do its thing.

If the other team has to drive ____ yards, they’re probably not scoring. How you fill in that blank dictates your 3rd down play calling.

Weren't you the poster that wanted Moore to play instead of Nico?
;)
No. Here's why. despite your twisting my words into something I never said, I didn't say I WANTED him to play INSTEAD of Nico. I said two things:
1. I wouldn't be surprised IF we saw him on the field if Nico falters.
2. I think it COULD happen since he is well versed in the Heup system.
These days, from the so-called highest echelons to the lowest such of society, intentional falsehoods and spinning of statements is embedded in everything.
Know what? We actually did see the Gas man on the field. AND, unlike canniVols here, even when he didn't shine, his teammate still bled orange for Moore.
Maybe snide cannoVols will learn how to be actual Vols fans instead of just anything but orange sandpipers.
