Running up the score in the NFL?

Like I said in another thread, I want the Pats to continue blowing out opponents all the way through the Super Bowl.

Then, in the off season, the NFL can come up with a politically correct way of preserving the precious self-esteem of other teams, particularly those in the AFC North. Thus confirming it's nickname the "No Fun League".

Bill Belichick is thumbing his nose at the entire NFL for being singled out in the "spygate" brouhaha and he won't stop until he's either 19-0 with another Super Bowl ring or Tom Brady is injured in the 4th quarter of another rout.

Games aren't 56-10. Point settled. You cannot compare the two circumstances AT ALL, it's not even close.

Either way... doesn't matter.. Bill is an arrogant prick and and will do his own thing and will piss everyone off in the process. Best thing us 'haters' can hope for is it back fires on 'em.

that doesn't settle anything. Grow some grapefruits and man up. Does Wal-mart have to let off the gas now that they've taken over the retail world and dominate everybody?

the only criticism worthy in this discussion is saving your players. if i were a pats fan, i'd be a little concerned about having my #1's in up by 40 in the 4th qtr.

teams do have pride, and the criticism will begin if/when a Brady, Moss, Stallworth etc....gets injured at that point in the game.

until then......stop them. make 'em punt every now and then........score some points of your own.......

I'm not really going to take your opinion into consideration here though, no offense, since you're a Tom Brady lover of course it will be biased....

Not so fast! I'm not a Tom Brady Lover, that just all started when FineVol brought up the whole Peyton Manning stuff. I could care less what Brady does, although he is quite hot. :w00t:

I can see plenty of reason to have yourself all up in bunches over scoring. When it comes down to it, someone is just jealous. :birgits_giggle:

well, he is a Titan fan......cut him some slack. if they were averaging half as many points a game as the Pats, they'd be GREAT!!!

sorry, bruno, couldn't resist.........it was just sitting there........

again though, he had james to hand off to. not a bad idea even in a close game. brady has nothing left but no one's ever heard of fullbacks. and i just can't buy your theory that it's happening to every team. It's still not the Pats fault. They can't just fold like a cheap tent. Play hard for 60 minutes on both sides of the ball.

Heath Evans takes offense to that

However, I feel that karma will get to the Pats, and Tom Brady will get some sort of injury during the fourth quarter of a playoff game.

I am surprised this hasn't become an issue yet or some cheap shots haven't been taken. Baseball has some infromal rules about taking care of showboaters. I guess football doesn't?

And you guys that aren't for it can't honestly tell me if it was your team you would be saying hey team, lets stop scoring. I would be excited if my team were actually able to do that, no matter what players are in the lineup, enjoying the team scoring, winning, and having fun is all that matters, and if that includes 70 points, so be it.

I think the big issue is running up the sore with thier starters still in the game. If your up 25-30 points in the 2nd half you can put some reserves in and continue to run your offense.

especially as 2 anonymous Pats, for confidentiallity's sake we'll call them T. Bruschi and M. Vrabel, have made questionable hits on opponents in the past, both of the low and head first variety. It will serve them right.

yeah...you're not allowed to touch a qb, much less plunk him.

I've seen peyton go 20-30 yards downfield when the game didn't matter anymore. What's worse than that IMO is watching peyton trying to air it out with the game on the line and all the colts need to do is melt the clock. But instead of running it, peyton will pass. Eventually he's going to go 3 and out and the other team is going to march down the field and score. If you want to say that's not true, look at the Cincy game.

The Colts are kinda differant in your case. The Colts special team defense is maybe the worst in the NFL at stop returns. The Colts feel better having Peyton continue to move the chains instead of running 3 plays killing time and then having to punt and pray they don't run it back.

Yea but baseball pitchers get tossed for plunking a batter. I can imagine some d-lineman giving him a late hit because they are already losing by 28+, so what is a 15 yard penalty going to hurt.

It's going to cost anybody who would deliberatly take out a QB WAY more than 15 yards.
