Our local had the 2 shows on each side work overtime and split the difference to cover his time slot.

Never. The advent of social media exposed it in an unhealthy manner

Its funny how much Clay Travis triggers some people. But it’s not unlike Colin Cowherd, Jim Rome, etc. Their business is to be provocative. It is kind of weird choice in that he’s not really a bonafide conservative. However I have to wonder about the demographics listening to talk radio. They’re not going to get someone to replace Rush. So maybe they think Clay brings a different audience and will cover more/different cultural issues. Will be interesting to hear. I’ll probably tune in to their first show to see

Keep in mind that Premiere/iHeart (Clear Channel) is replacing RL with Clay Travis and Buck Sexton for syndication. So many stations not owned by iHeart will be filling the time slot with someone else on June 21st. Like Bongino.
