I hope they have this opinion as well. Ohio State has far and away more talent than any other school they play every time they line up on the field. It’s not like the SEC either where the talent levels are close. They played two games this year with teams that have even comparable talent and they lost both games. One of the most talented teams in the country without a doubt that underachieves every year.Is there any actual validity to a loss means Ryan Day is fired? I would find it hard to believe that a team would fire their HC who just put them in the playoff. It is really hard to fire a coach with 10 or more wins yearly. I would love to hear what actual insiders feel about the dude. I am guessing he is not exactly well liked with all of those loses to MI. Although he has only lost 8 games in 6 years. I would think they would be hard pressed to find much more stability.
I did not listen to the interview and just read the notes. Based on that he does seem a little cocky. I think we are a little more used to the other coaches being more complementary of the upcoming opponent. Well outside of Kiff , and he is still mostly complimentary.View attachment 704720
I thought he was fairly respectful tbh and he was definitely referring to Oregon when he said "when we look down the road we played some of those guys already" not Tennessee.
We need bulletin board material. Chill.I agree with you, I didn't hear him say anything negative about Tn. He was just trying to get his team ready to play. Win the first game, and if they do that they have played some of the rest in their bracket. I fail to see anything he said that was downing Tn.
He pretty much has to say that because he knows this is do or die. When/if they lose to UT his time in Columbus ends. There is no point in him doing coach speak. It's down to rah rah pray to jah now. Nothing to be mad about. he sees the writing on the wall and is reading it out.He said he has players that have already played us and that they know they can handle us (paraphrased)
Additionally says it’ll be great to get this one win to catapult them going forward for the rest of the playoffs
All good points especially on the slants and screens. I don’t think their O line can deal with our D line straight up.I am wondering how OSU players react. Are they bought in knowing if they lose it is Day’s last game? Or are they listening to the bad press and not focused? They don’t have a great OL, but have really good skill players. If I am game planning against us, it would be a host of slants and screens. Get the ball out quick against our D. Our DL will be fresh and I expect them to create havoc.
Our problem will be a road night game. Can we get up early and quiet the crowd? I worry about a bunch of penalties slowing us down.
Ohio State fans are making the dumbest excuses if we do win with no credit to UT lol. They’re already saying they hope they lose so Day can be gone, they don’t think he cares, if he did care then they would get a victory in the 1st round, etc. We need to punch them in the mouth early and not let up. I wanna be up at halftime 35-0 and kick another onside kick to start the 2nd half.I'm not getting into personal attacks on Ryan Day but I expect the Vols to attack them with ferocity and come away with a W.
I agree. However, I did not think Georgia’s OL could either. IMO our defensive game plan against Georgia was too conservative. Their OL was considered one of their weaker position groups, yet, we failed to capitalize on that weakness. All good points especially on the slants and screens. I don’t think their O line can deal with our D line straight up.
