S. Alabama make anyone nervous?

They beat WKU and lit them up for over 400 yards net and close to 150 on the ground. They are 2-1 and one loss by one point due to a last second field goal. I know we are SEC and all that..but I hope these guys are not looking to the Georgia game and get whipped by a team that would like to make a statement. Just saying, I don't see a pushover considering how bad we are on both sides of the ball right now. :hi:

Our defense is just fine. As long as the offense gets it together just a little bit we will be good.

Are you the same one that had the, "I'm worried about WKU" thread? This is ridiculous! We just played Oregon and Gators on the road and should have won the Gator game. How in the hell do you think this game will be close?

UT by 28 or more! So stop posting this crap!

:good!:

They make me a little nervous honestly. they did beat WKU who we drilled, however if not for all the turnovers in that game I think we would have beat WKU by only 21 points or even a little less. South alabama is 2 points away from being undefeated, though they are only 12 points away from being 0-3 also. So it's kind of hard to get a good prediction on them. They have won some close games and we haven't so far this year which makes me nervous if it comes down to the fourth quarter. But I still think we pull this one out.

I had initially picked us to win 40-14 after seeing how bad they were last year. But they seem to be much improved, so I think the score will be something like 38-23 assuming they don't turn the ball over like WKU did. Heres to hoping they do though. It seems our defense has improved a little this year and at least is forcing more turnovers, I just don't know if we can capitalize on them is all.

We just got whooped by what is probably the #1 team on the road and beat by great defense after 6 turnovers. We're not as bad as the naysayers think we are.

Yeah the offense has some work to do, but I think that's an easier fix than a bad defense which we don't have this year.

Yes, I'm not convinced we'll win easily. Our offense is a complete work in progress and our D-line is thin. S. Alabama has some "dogs" on their team and athletes at the skill positions. I think they will be a challenge for us. No doubt they are looking at this game as their Super Bowl this year as the only SEC school on their schedule.

It appears that S. Ala throws the ball considerably, this game should give our young DB's some more expierience going into the Georgia game.

It should also give Worley more time to try to get in sync with our young receivers

This Was A 2* Comment Made Into A 4* With Unnecessary Capitalization.

Swype capitalizes everything on the mobile site.. Nothing I can do about that.. It has been reported.. No clue if or when it will be fixed..

I haven't read thru this thread so I know this has probably been said already. It's sad that some are worried about this South Alabama team (however I'm a little concerned as well). I wouldn't be surprised if this game was a lot like the North Texas-UGA game. I could see them capitalizing off our mistakes and making it a game for the first half but Tennessee takes over in the second half. Despite all that, I still stand by my prediction I made in August that Tennessee wins big 45-6. GBO!!!

Being in the SEC isn't the same as "we are the SEC".

We will get there again in 3-5 years but we would be over achieving to beat Candy at this point.

This game could be a tell for this staff.

2010 UT under Dooley lost big to Oregon (-35) and lost @Florida 31-17. The next week they played UAB and had to go to OT to beat them.

If 2013 UT comes out against USA and struggles against a quasi-legit opponent, this could indicate some level of problems within the team. If they come out and handily beat USA like the talent difference indicates they should it could indicate that the team isn't taking the losses to heart but are learning from them.

I can see this game as a pretty big focal point. This team has taken 2 straight on the chin.

2010 UT - Florida was in Knoxville.

Worst UF team I've seen in 20+ years

Matt Simms 2 Ints into the UF end zone sealed our fate that day

I will admit I was a little nervous right after the FL loss but after some thought I believe our OL should dominate and we should be able to run it right at them off tackles.I may be reaching a bit but with the right game plan Worley could possibly have a downfield coming out party in this game.

How do you know they have "dogs" ? Lol

Just spoke with three USA coaches / grad assistants tonight. Working and staying over on the west side near the campus. Had dinner across the bar and I had on my "Property of Tennessee Volunteers" shirt and one of my staff had on a power T hat. They were hitting us up about places to hang, ladies etc when they get there. I was thinking ... sounds like we're in good shape with that kinda focus. :)

They were all very high on Butch. One said "he's gonna bring that program back, you watch and see". What was interesting is how confident these guys were in a possible win Saturday. One was talking about how WKU was dominating the game until they had 6 straight turnovers. I just smiled and nodded. That was kinda funny. So, they really did think they have a chance to take us down.

Sorry, but I felt compelled to help them scheme a little, just to be friendly.
First, never try to isolate a WR/RB on #45. The guy covers like Deion Sanders and picks everything.
Second, Run right at #98, never to the edges. The guy is just a big teddy bear and can't tackle.
Third, #20 is just a battering ram. Pack the middle and don't worry about the edges.

... :) JK about that last part.

I'd say the last 2 games have left a bad taste in the mouth of every player on the team. I think this team is improving week to week and getting more and more comfortable in the system as well. That being said I think we win by at least 3.....Touchdowns that is. We're going to work on some things in the offence like route running and passing.
