Saban back to NFL?

Oh, those poor souls. It's not like they got the Heisman and the BCS Championship in the same year. Poor, poor dears.

Also, if Saban stays at Alabama after this upcoming season, that would make it the longest he's stayed at any one place in his entire career.

I'm not going to say the guy invented that story...but its a pretty big leap from Saban's quote to he's headed back to the NFL.

I didn't read the article, but Saban seems like a guy that likes a challenge & might get bored with the college game. I'd say if he cuts through the SEC again and wins another title he would want to take it to the next level.

Wonder how long it would take for the Bammers to tear down that statue of CNS if he bolts any time soon?

This is all you need to know about that article -

"There's no official weight to a Saban-to-the-NFL story just yet, but don't be surprised if there is in the future."

So basically Saban says he should've handled his Miami departure differently and the writer makes the leap he is going back to the NFL. That journalist (using the term loosely) makes the "big fish" posters on this board look credible.

Saban has a gold mine where he is. He would be stupid to leave unless he goes USCw and gets bama in deep yogurt.

IF he leaves it will be awesome to watch the bammers cry.

When he leaves it will be awesome to watch the bammers cry. He's not getting any younger, if he does want to try the NFL out again, it will have to be fairly soon. I just don't see him retiring from Bama w/o giving the NFL one more shot.

I do agree that the writer of the linked article is grasping at straws.

This just in. Saban recently said he likes french fries. So obviously, he may be considering a job in fast food.

Maybe there's some Pete Carroll type revelations that might come out in the future, and better to catch a plane.

While in Destin, Saban was asked about coaching somewhere else, he made the statement not unless they start a team at Lake Burton and need a coach. When asked about his best friend Tom Izzo making the move to the NBA, he said he would have to make that decision for himself but he knew it wasn't for him. He may go to another college but I just don't see him going back to NFL, he is a college coach and a very good one. You can read his interview in the SN, its came out today.Of course all opposing SEC teams would love to see him and Meyer leave and why not, but without strong coaches wouldn't we just become another PAC 10 or Big East?

IF Saban ever leaves Bama he would be going to another college, he flopped in the pros. There are just some coaches that aren't meant to coach in the NFL. CNS, CUM, and Spurrier are those kind of coaches. JMO

From every thing I have read and seen about Saban he is not a pro coach, and lots of pro coaches aren't meant for college. His interview in the Sporting News just came out today, very good read even if you aren't a Bama fan. He says he's "mellowed" alot , I don't believe that after watching the spring game and he was going for it on 4th down after ESPN had turned off the cameras because he didn't want it to end in a tie.

He was 15-17 in two seasons as head coach. He didn't set the world on fire but its kinda hard to say he flopped with a near .500 record in only 2 years.

Considering how everybody was talking about how great of a pro coach he would make, he flopped. JMO

Hmm..I'm fairly sure they would raise nine kinds of hell but why? If someone told you UT could have a coach for a couple of years and get a NC out of the deal before he bolts, wouldn't everyone take that.
