Saban doesn't back Oats

I guess his player wasn't in the wrong place at the wrong time when he slapped the VOL fan.

I get that you are making a rhetorical criticism, but really....these two things are nothing alike, wrt to time and location. . One was actually leaving the field of competition, the other was going to a questionable locale at 1am, with questionable company.

You might not like Burton's ACTIONS, but you cannot argue he wasn't EXACTLY where he was supposed to be at that moment, with exactly the people he was supposed to be with.

Saben says "no such thing as wrong place wrong time", in reference to suspending Mitchell after his arrest. I would like to be a fly on the wall in that athletic department.

Saban playing the public opinion. Saban supports Saban. Nothing else.

Go back to his support for the starting LT a few years ago for the exact same thing.

Yet his player punches a female fan, and he claims he was scared.. both coaches are ****. Saban even worse for acting like he would’ve handled it differently.

Saban doesn’t make poor word choices at the first press conference of Spring Ball. He’s very deliberate and very aware of everything he’s saying . This was distancing himself from the situation to show the moms and dads out there that their kids can come to Bama and play football and that they shouldn’t worry about that behavior being tolerated in his program.
Hoosier_Vol wasn't saying Saban's word choice was poor, he was referring to his own bad pun.

Exactly. I had actually written something similar about out of state enrollment and enrollment in general exploding, but I changed tabs and it got erased and I didn’t feel like doing it all over again.
You gotta think too it's helping change the stereotype of that entire state. There are a bunch of kids from "up north" who want to go there, especially if they like college football. A big football school having a great football team is just incredible marketing for the institution. It makes me think about the what ifs if Tennessee was that good.

I think that is exactly why Saban said what he said. He’s taking ownership in what he’s been able to accomplish for a University and its ability to change the perception of the state itself . He’s not going to let some flash in the pan stepping stone basketball job and coach take away a lot of what he’s worked hard to do.

This entire situation has exposed the lengths those scumbags will go to twist something that is black white in their favor; to have them tell it, B Miller was minding his own business at his weekly Bible study when all this went down... Delusional idiots, I’ll never respect them or take anything those fans say serious.

The recent sellout of basically every Media tells us that they will do/say anything for Cash.

but thats the lie in the argument.

Miller wasn't in the wrong place at the wrong time. he went there on purpose, he didn't make a wrong turn so fast that the requested gun was accidentally thrown out the window to the intended individual in a manner that just so happened to block in the victim.

saban also made a bs argument, "was scared for his life", for Burton. just like Oats is making for Miller.

Saban is trying to bring back the Fulmer Cup! Although he appears to have handle this the correct way he failed with others. What's more, The UA has to be first in line for the prestigious Fulmer Cup. Maybe we can rename it to the Saban Oats award.

The last part is precisely why I'm not going to take what Saban said seriously.

In the same situation, he would (and in fact has) inappropriately covered for thugs on his team without regard for anyone else injured.

Y’all are reaching hard here. Saban said a thing a million other coaches in his situation have said.

I think thats the point. The difference in what he said vs what he did.

oh, he suspended a true freshman during spring training? Lets see him suspend Bryce Young in November/December and it would be similar.

Nah, it's not a reach. He used the exact phrase, while all this is very much still in the spotlight. He's seizing control of his team before they assume what's fine for Oats is also fine for him, and telling parents that he has institutional control. And in doing so, it's pretty clear he doesn't care for Oats' take.

Whatever past criticisms and suspicion people have for Saban, this is no coincidence.

The points is they’re trying to compare what he said to their basketball coach and pretend he was talking trash about him

Right. So once again, you’re making a big deal out of nothing. He said something all coaches say.
No. In the situation saban is referring to, “wrong place wrong time” doesn’t even make sense. The guy that was arrested was fleeing cops at 140 mph. It was clearly saban trying to distance himself from oats and the basketball program. There are a million different ways to address that issue that don’t include the phrase that Oats just got blasted for.

Highly doubtful

Right. So once again, you’re making a big deal out of nothing. He said something all coaches say.

Denial is a terrible thing.

February 2023:
"Can’t control everything anybody does outside of practice. Nobody knew that was going to happen. College kids are out...Wrong spot at the wrong time." - Nate Oats

March 2023:
""Everybody's got an opportunity to make choices and decisions. There's no such thing in being in the wrong place at the wrong time. You've got to be responsible for who you're with, who you're around and what you do, who you associate yourself with and the situations that you put yourself in." -Nick Saban

Find anyone else in the past 5 years who chose to phrase things anywhere close to the way Saban did....one month after Oats stuck his foot in his mouth.

Lmao this can't really be your argument? You believe no one else has said "there's no such thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time" or is there something more to that that I'm missing? Sounds 100% like basic coach speech. It's even something Saban himself has said before.

This is a non-story being pushed by the idiots we call "journalists" because it's the offseason.
