Saban Rumour

In Indy, Saban would be given full control over roster.

Would Irsay do that for a Head Coach with as little NFL head coaching experience as Saban?

It's seems rare enough to see that power given to longer-tenured or more successful coaches in the league (off the top of my head, I know Fisher got it at one point at TN...I think Shanahan and Reid have gotten that, probably safe to presume Bellichick does).

That franchise is a horrible fit for his play style. They want Peyton Manning 2.o offensive juggernaut. The owner is outspoken and I'd see that as an issue too. If Saban went NFL a team like the Ravens would be more his style or a place with no identity like the Jags.

A "rumour", eh?...Would you like some poutine to enjoy during the hockey game?...Perhaps a spot of tea to go with your spotted dick *dessert*?

Any rumor involving Saban at this point has about as much validity as me saying we're gonna assault his team by five touchdowns in Atlanta, "I have my sources".

I could see Saban using this to work a new paycheck. I think he is too old to start a new NFL career tho. Cowherd has devoted the last 10 minutes to it though and is still going on about it. He seems to think Saban would and should go.

No recruiting in the NFL, but nobody is going to dominate it until the 2 Jerks in NE retire.

Saban aint leaving the NCAA. He has too many connections with the high ups. And even if he did, Alabama is so stacked that they probaly wouldnt fall that much if any. I mean its not like the next coach at Bama will have to follow Derek Dooley.

He said if the Dolphins got Brees he would still be there, I think he would go to a NFL team with a franchise QB, we have that. They have personnel for 3-4, a couple of good rush LBs, a really good corner and with Frank Gore a power run game.

^^^This. Plus control of the roster, this would be very attractive to him. Saban has NFL experience as a HC and DC. It would be really interesting to see him go up against his buddy Bellichick in NE. If he was tempted to go to Austin, I think Indy could get him to go.

I think Saban will either retire at Bama unless he feels like he has something to prove in the NFL. I don't see him building another team in college.
