Saban to Texas?

A few weeks ago, a caller to finebaum said that if Saban went to Texas it would be for $45MM..

They were going to offer a $20MM signing bonus, and $5MM a year for 5 years...

I don't care where he goes, as long as he leaves

So, essentially Texas would be paying him $9 million per year for 5 years.

Sean Payton won a Super Bowl, and the Saints just signed him for $7.5.

I don't know why, but I have my doubts about the caller's sources.

If you believe Nick Saban will coach at Texas in 2013; please go directly to your bath tub, fill with water, completely submerge head into water, maintain this position until you aren't stupid anymore.

CBS sports radio discussion this morning said it was more likely he go to Texas than the NFL. Called him a mercenary who would go for the money and potential legacy. Commenter said he would have more incentive to move if he won the NC and said Texas would be the only logical place. I think the commenter was Spencer Tillman, but may have heard that wrong.

I guarantee Nick Saban does not coach at Texas in 2013. If Spencer Tillman said that, he is wrong.

Texas is a better job than Alabama, IMO

Texas is the best job in college football. Easiest recruiting, most money, most fans.

That doesn't mean that the coach of any big time program is going to go there if they fire Brown.

Do you realize you are in the "Around the NCAA" Forum? The purpose of the forum is to discuss other teams.

So, your life revolves around 21-40 year old men you don't know.

And I live in Nashville, so not only was your point retarded, it was moot.

Takes a retard to know a retard.

If you have 5,000 posts here, is it safe to assume you have 50,000 on the Bama forum? With 10,000 more on Auburn and LSU forums?

Yep I do Ron, and that will not change my mind one bit when it comes to Saban, I hope he stays right there so it will make it that much sweeter when we get back to UT Football... VFL :hi:

...wait how's thatdifferent from a lot to most of this board's members?

It doesn't for some, but there are quite a few other things to do for people who live in Tennessee sports wise.

I don't hang on the word of what some 17-18 year old recruit says. Some find that fascinating. I don't. In Alabama, they have zero big time pro sports so it's all they have.

I would consider Notre Dame the best job. Closely followed by Texas, then Alabama and Florida.

Until this year I would have disagreed because I never thought Notre Dame would be competing for championships again. So I thought having fans and boosters with such seemingly unrealistic expectations would make coaching there difficult. We'll see what kind of sustained success Kelly can have.
