All of the men on my mother's side of the family have served in the Army since WW1! I, myself, US ARMY 1999-PRESENT, retiring May 2025!
Always feels weird when someone thanks me for my service until I heard another Vet with the perfect response....."You are with it!"
VOLNATION, you are WORTH IT!
Shout out prayers and praise for those and their families that did the heavy lifting, our brothers and friends, and families of those who gave all. I was a peacetime soldier who was never asked to fight. I did sign the paper that said I would if needed. I stand by that. God bless and keep each and every veteran who served.
I believe myself that most people who enter military service simply think it's just the right thing to do, and that they are giving back to our country what our country gives to us. Like JFK said , " ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country "
