Navy. 1981-1989. Personnelman/Yeoman/Legalman.
USS Frank Cable, SUBRON FOUR, USNS Sirius, NRC Charleston, NAS Norfolk. Medical Discharge kept me from doing my 20. Even after getting VA disability, I’d do it again!
Me too! Tonight I met up with my roommate from Bitburg, Germany from 1979 - 1981. I hadn't seen him in 43 years. That was a great Veterans Day present!

Dad was sent home from Italy with broken ankle before deployment in WWII. One uncle fought house to house in Italy. The youngest of 3 was a driver abit later. All Army. Dad reinlisted later and retired with 20 years in including a tour in Vietnam. He left 2 weeks before Tet in 67. Retired from USATA(White House garage) in d.c. in 71 as an E-7, SFC. And a special shout out to all who returned from Nam and was demonize publicly by many Americans.

Ever know a Sargent David Shaw Usaf while in Tx? He was in the security police group
.
Doesn't ring a bell. I was at San Antonio for basic September/October 1978 and then returned there for the Police Academy in April 1979. Security Police ( now Security Forces) is the largest career field in the Air Force due to the many resources (conventional as well as nuclear) that must be protected .... even including Air Force One. My job was protecting flight lines and aircraft as well as weapons storage areas.

I checked Together We Served site but no David Shaw as Security has joined up yet.

USMC 71 to 75

MOS 0351 anti-tank assault

Medical discharge

Only given 10% disability for a HUGE check of $170. per month WOOO HOOO!!!

I was told it should have been much more so I started the process for a increase but got tired of the Govt BS and just gave up, LOL!

I would have stayed in the USMC until I could have retired if the disability hadn't gotten me where I couldn't reup.

Semper Fidelis !!!

VFL...GBO!!!

He probably was there both before and after your time there. He was from 71 thru 199 90's before retiring. I think he was MSargt. in charge of the rifle range/shooting program his last couple years.

Dad was Army in Vietnam (circled in red). Had Two uncles in Army (1 in Vietnam; 1 in Gulf War), an uncle in the Navy during Vietnam, and an uncle in the Air Force during Vietnam. I went Navy to try and even it out and mainly because I wanted to play on subs. Then my cousin went Marine Corps, so we remained unequal hehehe.

Currently AD in the Army. On rotation in Korea, and wife is due in May. Fingers crossed I make it back in time to see em born.

Some of yall on this post have kept me motivated an inspired. Thank yall for your service.
Missed my 1st born birth in 1986 due to deployment. Life in the military can be really tough on the family. Spouses don’t get recognized enough, they sacrifice too.
