With Arkansas's talent they will be 3-9 once again in 2020

Well that would be an improvement lol.

On paper we have more talent than Vandy, Kentucky and Missouri and equal talent to Ole Miss and Mississippi State. But games aren’t played on paper....we went 0-4 against those teams last year. Better coaching might have won us games against A&M, Kentucky and/or San Jose State. Missouri was back and forth until late as well.

It might be a bit of a stretch to say Arkansas has more talent than Kentucky right now;)

Three Top 20 offenses in five years as an OC:

Here are Briles’ offenses’ finishes in Offense PAN during his time as OC:

2019 Florida State: 46th
2018 Houston: 14th
2017 Florida Atlantic: 8th
2016 Baylor: 57th (interim year)
2015 Baylor: 3rd

Mass Exodus of players in 2016 and somebody else's recruits in 2019.

Opens up recruiting doors in Texas.

2014 BIG XII Recruiter Of The Year.

You keep ignoring the fact that those were Art Briles’ offenses not Kendall Briles. Baylor’s offense ranked in the top 5 for total offense from 2011-2014 before Kendall was “coordinating” anything. FSU’s total offense this year was 73rd. FAU’s offense drastically improved under Kiffin not Briles. It remained in the top 20 before him and after his one season as OC there. Kendall Briles is a product of his last name

But if we're not careful 1 of those 3 will be us. Can't take em for granted n look over em cause we think they have inferior talent. Gotta take the fight to the opponent for 60 mins and don't let up.
It’s all good, they will have a first year head coach... I’ve been told a thousand times here it takes minimum 3 years for a coach to put a somewhat competent product on the field. They will be absolutely embarrassed.

If you go back and look at their recruiting, their upcoming Sophomore class is very talented. Six 4 star skill players, a top 25 class, and an additional 8 transfers.

Their Freshman class was outside the top 75, their Junior class was right at #50. They’ll play youngsters and transfers all over the place.

That is probably the best example, but of course, Ed Orgeron was not successful in his first head coaching job at Ole Miss. That is an important point. It may work out, but Arkansas is a tough job right now, though. They used to be able to recruit Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas well. However, that was a long time ago.
Actually the best example is Dabo. He was never a coordinator before becoming interim HC. Almost any hire is a roll of the dice but I do agree that hiring someone who’s never even been a coordinator seems like even more of a gamble.

And Dabo was about to lose his job before Chad Morris turned their offense around followed by Brent Venables fixing their defense and making them elite. Without those two hires, Dabo would probably be a WR coach somewhere. Credit to him for getting it right, though.

There is some rough sledding ahead for the Hogs. Just checked where they are on 247's recruiting rankings and it's not pretty. They only had 10 early signees and are sitting at #79. That is the fewest number of signees of anyone in the top 100 of the FBS. Can you imagine the freakout on here if we ever did anything like that? The RF would be a hellscape.

Yeah this class is still a work in progress. 87 for an average isn’t bad but Pittman is probably still evaluating guys that were committed to Morris and identifying ones still left that he wants. We were 58 a week ago but parted ways with a few.

The early signing period has done us no favors since we’ve had a new coach twice already since it’s existed, brutal on new coaches.

Maybe not McFadden and the wildcat offense but a return to the power I or some form of pro set offense with an emphasis on the running game as priority #1.

I can see Arkansas competing for 2nd or 3rd in the west division with a few surprise finishes now and then.

??? 2nd or 3rd?

LSU just hit another level.
Bama still has Saban.
Auburn is up and down. Usually up.

4th is their ceiling. Jmo..

Mullen is recruiting very well.
Kirby is still top 5 every year.
(Insert Tennessee here)

How is it any different from our current position?

4th or 3rd has been our ceiling for the past 12 years. But Vol fans continue to believe we're going to win the east every year.

One) We're talking about Arkansas.
They have NEVER had the expectation to challenges for their division consistently.

Two) We're talking about Arkansas.
Tennessee has almost nothing to do with Arkansas success or failure.

Three) WE'RE TALKING ABOUT ARKANSAS. Not Tennessee...

You missed my point.

No university hires a new coach with the expectation of reaching .500 as their goal.

Not Arkansas. Not UT.

The fan base expects to be competitive and so does their new staff, given the right amount of time. Do you believe that a new staff just walks in thinking they can't be competitive with other teams so oh well, they'll settle for 4th or 5th every year?

I wish there was still video of that girl (looked like the one in that video and might be the same one) singing the song she wrote to Tyler Wilson after that loss to UL-Monroe or UL-Lafayette a few years back, but it got removed shortly thereafter.

You can have all kinds of desires and expectations, history says Arkansas is 5th best in the West on average since being in the SEC. Since 1991, the only West teams they have winning records against are OLE MISS and Miss State.

No they won't sniff an SEC West or SEC Title with how the current situation is in that division. Just my opinion...

Let’s wait til we see life after Burrow before we say it’s business as usual for LSU. I think they’ll be good but Burrow makes them great.

That the thing, Dudley. Who was Burrow before this season?? Joe Brady is the reason LSU is so dangerous now. Combine that with Ed O, locking down the state of Louisiana...

We were 3-0 against Texas A&M too before Petrino wrecked his bike. Unfortunately we never got to see if he would continue that, instead A&M keeps pulling wins out of their ass against us every year.

Lifetime you have an edge on them too.

There's no reason Arkansas can't be good every year. If you look at the Memphis Tigers, they have a similar recruiting footprint. Except Arkansas can add the state of Texas to theirs.

Pittman hires Kentucky DL coach Derrick LeBlanc and is rumored to hire Georgia assistant strength coach Ed Ellis. Only spot yet to be filled is RB coach.
