Just our luck - we have an exciting and good BBall team that we won't get to see. Football will still move forward, of course.

yeah Dukes crybaby was complaining the other day and of course after his team was blown out at home
Same thing, there was also an announcer in the FSU/Indiana game last night that went on a rant about needing to shut basketball down for the foreseeable future.

I could see it being suspending all football games except the SEC Championship due to COVID-19 issues and reassessing as bowl season approaches, because there's nothing you can do if 11 teams have issues preventing them from playing games, but I have a very hard time believing that the SEC would willingly be the first major conference to postpone or eschew college basketball.

From SEC.com

"The University of Tennessee has announced a self imposed bowl ban for the 2021 football season. The Vols become the first team to ever impose a ban without major violations. When reached for a statement at the Krispy Kreme, athletic director Phillip Fulmer indicated the Vols will be bringing back Jeremy Pruitt for the 21 season which will constitute a self-imposed bowl ban."

It's one of three things:

#1) The SEC Championship game won't have fans in attendance.

#2) The remainder of the SEC football season is cancelled outside of the SEC championship game.

#3) Basketball season is postponed until further notice.

I doubt it's #1. We're not lucky enough for it to be #2. And it's 2020 and basketball is the only thing to bring us joy so it's more than likely #3.

I have to be a bit careful since I have media ties but it is supposedly about basketball AND football.

They are going to cancel all remaining football games since Bama and Florida are playing for the SEC Title anyway. And basketball is going on hiatus until mid-January. When it returns it will be conference only play and possibly some weekends in a bubble.

I could be wrong but I'm definitely not just talking out of my rear end......

Was K saying any of this before he lost a couple of games? I'm assuming not, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Now if I'm being honest, I do think that basketball is going to be hard to navigate with case numbers being what they are and with the challenges contact tracing can present. It's a tough position for the Greg Sankey's of the world to be in. A lot of pressure being thrown on them to step in and pause the season. Is it the right decision? Not in my opinion.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's #1, #2 and #3.
