I wonder what the fan could have possibly said to set off a pretty chill and easy going guy like Vescovi? Geez. Honestly, after this and then the Burton stuff in Neyland, starting to think we might see harsher penalties get imposed on universities if they let fans rush the court. We’re bound to end up with someone getting actually hurt eventually.

Not smart. It is difficult to walk way after an emotional game but he has to think before reacting. A few Vandy fans were chirping at TN fans, but I walked away.

It’s much more difficult for a player not to react, but this could cost him a game. I’m surprised the video hasn’t made its way to ESPN or SEC network.

While I agree that he has to be better, if he gets any punishment and Jermaine Burton didn’t, it will be the nail in the coffin that Birmingham protects Bama (we already know). It won’t happen though because DW is a strong AD.

Edit-
It’s Bama. And there wasn’t near as many people near Santi. Neyland was a crazy spectacle while Memorial wasn’t that chaotic.

I don’t disagree w you but I can hear the pundits rationalizing.

Burton hit a female walking by…there is no rationalization. All Rick has to say is that Santi “was scared.”

Agree with the first sentence. Why lie and say he was scared? Just say 'the fan got in his face, he created distance'.

Dude was exercising his right to celebrate every six years or so by running his mouth at the Vol bench. It looked like a couple of other guys were heading his way. That's ok, they need to win some insignificant something every now and then in order to go on living.

In that 2nd clip Santi was ready to go after someone else initially, glad nothing escalated…if you’re that upset about the loss don’t take the L, but now that you have let if fuel you and the team.

I agree that Santi should not have reacted. Don’t think the Vandy fan should have taunted our bench either. Just go celebrate with your players and fans. You’re just asking for trouble by trying to taunt the opposition.

With all the whining our fan base did about Jermaine Burton, I’m sure no one will give us hell about this. No one at all.

I don't condone what Vescovi did here, but I see a fundamental difference between shoving a large man as he strides boastfully toward your team and hitting a small woman as she attempts to get out of your way.

Yeah, I don’t think these situations are that similar. Santi still should have kept his cool though.

Nice job by the 2 fat security guards chatting up it with each other by the refs and the third one looking the other way.

Anybody remember the 2008 game where we were #1 and during the game some fat Vandy fan tried to stare down Tyler Smith during the game?

Fans are gonna be fans. Either way Santi needs to chill out. He looks ridiculous doing that.

That’s not good, you can’t do that. You’ve gotta stay in control of your emotions. That’s no different from the Alabama player pushing someone.. Barnes needs to discipline him… That’s a sign of a lost team… I don’t care who’s fault it is.. You’ve gotta be the bigger person and a better man in that situation.. Basketball is great and I love it, but it’s just a game.. He’s gotta do better than that. As a team we’ve gotta do better then that.. I’m very disappointed and this is coming from a Barnes supporter.. We are a better then that.. much better.. no excuse to put your hands on anyone.. it takes a man to walk away from a L and makes them better in reality.
