Saquon Barkley is the best RB I've ever seen

What religion or denomination do most of the greats come from? I'm going to guess Methodist.

Not sure if serious:

I honestly think he’s had one too many tide pods. There’s no going back for him now.

Maybe he has been grinding up and snorting Drain-O as well. Gotta be a combination of weird stuff going on here.

I also expect some accident at birth. Maybe his parents didn't keep the egg consistently warm during the hatching process.

Honestly, I’m actually really relieved by this entire discussion.

Up to this point, I’ve felt sorry for D4H, thinking he was some self-deluded teenager who actually thinks he can accurately make NFL comparisons based on YouTube videos and stats he finds on the back of old cereal boxes.

Now I feel like there’s a legit possibility he’s no more than an A+ troll and he gets credit for that!

He makes the board better, regardless. VN needs a lightning rod or two.

As long as Saquon Barkley stays healthy he'll be a Hall of Famer. Here are my RB rankings for the 2018 NFL Draft:

Top 10 RBs in 2018 NFL Draft
1. Saquon Barkley (Penn St.) - NFL comp: Fred Taylor
2. Rashaad Penny (San Diego St.) - NFL comp: Curtis Martin
3. John Kelly (Tennessee) - NFL comp: Priest Holmes
4. Ronald Jones II (USC) - NFL comp: Jamaal Charles
5. Mark Walton (Miami)
6. Bo Scarbrough (Alabama)
7. Sony Michel (Georgia)
8. Derrius Guice (LSU)
9. Nick Chubb (Georgia)
10. Kerryon Johnson (Auburn)

This has a chance to go down as the best RB draft ever. The top end talent is elite and there is incredible depth throughout. All of my top 10 RBs can be starters in the NFL. And the top 5 have Pro-Bowl talent.
Barkley, Michel, Guice, kelly, Jones is my top 5. Penny would be 6th. If you haven’t watched him yet checkout Nyheim Hines. He should at least be over Johnson and nick Chubb

Just finished watching Minkah Fitzpatrick. He's way better than I thought from just watching him on TV. Should be the #1 CB in the 2018 NFL Draft. He's a carbon copy of NFL Hall of Famer Rod Woodson. Arguably the best player Nick Saban has ever coached (at worst #2 behind Julio Jones).

Here's my new top 10:

1. RB Saquon Barkley (Penn St.) - NFL comp: Fred Taylor
2. LB Leigton Vander Esch (Boise St.) - NFL comp: Jack Lambert
3. CB Minkah Fitzpatrick (Alabama) - NFL comp: Rod Woodson
4. WR Antonio Callaway (Florida) - NFL comp: Sterling Sharpe
5. S Derwin James (Florida St.) - NFL comp: Steve Atwater
6. QB Sam Darnold (USC) - NFL comp: don't have one yet
7. G Quenton Nelson (Notre Dame) - NFL comp: don't have one yet
8. DE Marcus Davenport (UTSA) - NFL comp: Jason Taylor
9. DE Arden Key (LSU) - NFL comp: Simeon Rice
10. QB Josh Allen (Wyoming) - NFL comp: don't have one yet

Just missing the cut: RB Rashaad Penny (San Diego St.), DT Vita Vea (Washington), DE Bradley Chubb (NC State), S Justin Reid (Stanford), QB Josh Rosen (UCLA), QB Lamar Jackson (Louisville)

The talent in this draft is incredible. Could be the GREATEST draft in NFL history.

Late to the party on Minkah

That's fine. I typically assume most Bama players are overrated and will be busts. I never just go along with the media hype because they are almost always wrong. I like to evaluate the tape for myself and then come to a decision about the player.

I finally got to studying Minkah in depth this weekend and was very impressed. Might be the first Bama player under Saban since Julio where the media hype is actually warranted.

He'll be Rod Woodson 2.0 in the NFL. Turnover machine who runs back a lot of INTs for TDs.

"No, other people think he's going to be good, i think he's going to be ELITE, a first ballot HOF'er. I'm the only person in the world saying that."

Someone else actually compared him to Rod Woodson already: Bama's Fitzpatrick a spitting image of Rod Woodson | Lindy's Sports

Plus Minkah is projected as a top 5-10 pick in the draft with almost everyone rating him as the top DB available. That is way different than Alvin who was projected as a Day 2 pick and was considered universally worse than the Leonard Fournette, Dalvin Cook, and Christian McCaffrey.

Saying a guy who ends up going in the 3rd round and behind 4 other RBs is a future Hall of Famer is a lot more bold and impressive than saying a guy everyone is projecting as a top 5 pick will be a Hall of Famer. So no, I won't be taking any credit for Minkah if he does in fact go on to have a Hall of Fame career. It wouldn't surprise many people if a guy who is projected to be a top 5 pick turns out to become a Hall of Famer. However, I will continue to take credit for being the only person anywhere that said a 3rd round pick who was taken behind 4 other RBs would not only end up being the best RB in the class but also a future Hall of Famer.

I thought last year was the GREATEST draft in history?

I mean there were 10 HOF’s in it.

Last year's draft is all-time great as well. I think 2018 is just a hair better. Primarily because there is better top-end talent in 2018 while having just as much (if not more) depth as 2017.

This is how I break down the position groups in the 2 drafts:

QB - advantage 2018 (Dobbs is the best QB in either class but after him I would say Darnold, Allen, Rosen, and Lamar are better than the other QBs in the 2017 draft)

RB - advantage 2018 (both drafts are great at RB but 2018 has slightly better top-end talent as well as better depth in day 2 and 3)

WR - advantage 2018 (neither WR class is hugely impressive but 2018 has slightly more top-end talent in rounds 1-3)

TE - advantage 2017 (huge edge to 2017, the TE class in 2017 is all-time great)

OL - advantage 2018 (neither class is strong but 2018 has better top-end talent; especially at guard)

DE - advantage 2017 (more depth in 2017 while 2018 has better talent in the 1st round outside of Myles Garrett)

DT - advantage 2018 (not even close, better top-end talent and depth in the 2018 class)

LB - advantage 2018 (big edge to 2018 here, LBs were a weakness in 2017)

CB - advantage 2017 (huge edge to the 2017 draft which might one of the best CB drafts we've seen in NFL history)

S - advantage 2017 (Derwin James is the best talent by far but overall 2017 has a huge edge; safety was arguably the strongest position group in the 2017 draft)

So I got 2018 winning 6 to 4 in terms of position group strength. Considering I felt the 2017 NFL Draft was one of the strongest in NFL history, that should tell you just how highly I think of the 2018 Draft.

The 2017 and 2018 NFL Drafts will define the NFL for the next 8 years. Most of the superstars who will dominate the NFL from 2019-2025 will come from these two EPIC draft classes.
