Sark to the Falcons

Finebaum said yesterday that Chip Kelly could be a longshot for the Alabama offensive coordinator job.

I'm willing to give those fans credit for at least being correct, even if the fact isn't terribly relevant.

Doubled's is claiming that there are Bama fans who want Dooley "back." This statement is so divorced from fact that it owes back alimony.

Not when you use that train of thought. Dooley was on Saban's staff at LSU which has nothing to with to with Bama just like Bear never beating Neyland had anything to do with Bama...other than the fact that Bear & Saban ALSO coached at Bama.

It's a weird logic you must use...but I get it in that, at least, Bear coached at Bama.

I don't keep up with saban or salami in general and I don't know why I would. All I know is dooley and saban have a history, and that there is quiet mumbling in salami land that they think dools should come on board. I have lots of family in salami land.

Are you excited that Hoke's on UT's staff?

None of UT's current players can even remember Manning's college days. Any other ancient history you'd like to discuss?

Lol... Alabama has elevated Bear Bryant worship to an art form. Don't talk to us about ancient history.

When I bring up the Bear as some kind of counter to UT destroying Bama, then by all means call me on it. But until then I guess I can't stop anyone from wailing on that strawman.

You're a Bama fan who lives on a Tennessee fan board. Embrace your powerlessness. :huggy:

I'm in wait and see mode tbh. The guy is a good recruiter. He's also mister beer drinking buddy that seems to bring down everything he's touched. I want to like him but he hasn't given me much to like and I suspect that is the case everywhere he goes. The dude is a players coach. The kids do love him. That's been proven, I just think that approach isn't always successful in a position of responsibility, and I think he is getting paid too much. I'm willing to give him a shot, but I'm worried it's going to turn out just like common sense tells me it will.

Makes no difference who Bamas OC is. Its Sabans system. Whoever the new OC is will look like a rockstar with 5* talent everywhere and the greatest college coach of all time at the helm.

Poor Finebaum was on the air trying to spin this as though nothing could possibly catch Nick Saban off guard and that he HAD to have known something about this ahead of time. He pretty much stopped short of saying Saban orchestrated the whole thing.

Since Alabama has a Co-Offensive Coordinator, I assume they are looking for another "Co-Offensive Coordinator". Wonder if that dilutes the field or do they strip away the "Co" title from their current coach and say sorry we messed up.

The impression I get is that the "Co" title for Locksley was mostly ceremonial, and a justification for paying him a little more than the typical WR coach.

Looks like this morning Chip Kelly said thanks but no thanks.
Although they have a pretty good peer relationship, I don't think Saban has any intention of hiring Kelly as OC. Consulting perhaps, but I don't think Kelly as OC at Bama is desired by Saban or Kelly.

Saban and Quinn know each other pretty well. It's fairly likely Saban has known for a couple of weeks or so that Sark might get the Falcons OC job.

While Kelly would have been an interesting hire, we'd almost certainly be in the exact same position next year. The man is not going to have to wait very long for a head coaching gig.

The NCAA eyes were on Kelly when he bolted for the NFL. He comes back to college they could come after him. Even if they don't you have to worry about him and violations at some point.

Can we all stop pretending like the NCAA actually does anything in this day and age?

Why would Kelly stoop to the level of being an offensive consultant in Tuscaloosa? If you were Kelly and his resume would you do that?
