Sark to the Falcons

DO NOT WANT! I'm hoping we can either get Billy Napier back and make him the OC, since he hasn't signed the ASU OC contract yet... Or, another guy I like is Sterlin Gilbert, the OC at USF. Gilbert was Co-OC at Tulsa, then OC in 2016 Texas and went to USF with Strong.

Gilbert is an Art Briles tree guy....not sure his offensive philosophy fits what Saban wants....Napier is a guy that would work for Saban but would he come back after being passed over several times for the OC job?

None of UT's current players can even remember Manning's college days. Any other ancient history you'd like to discuss?

For a fan of a such a dominant program, you sure get defensive when anyone farts in their general direction..

Gilbert's offense indeed fits what Saban wants. Kiffin and Sark were better qualified than Napier.

I think the door was kept open for Napier to return soon as Sark's successor, kind of like Pruitt did as DC. He went out and got some DC experience while Kirby was waiting for HC opportunity (UGA = his dream joob). Napier was only 30 when he became the OC at Clemson in 2009. Dabo was meddlesome, calling some plays himself during games; not a good practice. Napier should be more ready now.

I don't know who Saban will hire as OC, but I think Gilbert or Napier make the most sense of the names I've seen mentioned.

Assuming the contract is not signed, have there been many coaches that have backed away from their "word" in an agreement with a school's AD?

Well, Sark sort of did. He accepted job as UA OC and less than two months later got a great opportunity in Atlanta. Rich Rodriguez backed out of his acceptance of Bama HC job after WV got wind of it and quickly got the money from donors needed to keep him. Maybe Les Miles to Michigan. There have probably been others.

Are you referring to a non-existent group of Bama fans, or doubled's?

You have to use the same logic that's used every Oct. when UT fans are quick to let Bama fans know that Bryant never beat Neyland.

I've not seen any serious posts from Bama fans who seem to think Saban should consider DD for anything other than maybe a position coach. Even that seems a little idiotic. Just let Dooley stay where he is, imo.

I'm willing to give those fans credit for at least being correct, even if the fact isn't terribly relevant.

Doubled's is claiming that there are Bama fans who want Dooley "back." This statement is so divorced from fact that it owes back alimony.

I'm genuinely torn on this. I would love to have Kelly come in and work with our QBs. The man can develop a QB. But I really do not want him to bring the Oregon system with him.
I also have some reservations about it. I don't think we should be up tempo all the time. Likely a one-and-done, with an improved "segway" to land a HC gig in the SEC. Would rather hire someone else and also have Kelly be brought in temporarily as an offensive "consultant" and QB developer.

What a well-sourced, quote-laden piece of journalism.

Looks like the pro and con Kelly articles have no sources at all ... just their own speculation. There are 3 or 4 on this site that have opinions as well on this subject that you could used in one of your articles if you wish.
