Saturday morning practice #16

JJ was mentioned as wearing a boot. Hopefully minor. I kind of like the silence on the injuries. Keeps the pseudo diagnostics and rehab prognostication to a minimum.

But, seriously, every year since his freshman season everybody thinks Maggitt is finally back. And, then he's never back. Is it finally different. Seems he's still very fragile or is this all just precaution?

He'll play every snap he can when the season starts and make all of them count. Ultimately that's what matters and what you allude to is why they are being precautionary.

The most glaring change we saw as the defense went through walk-throughs and a few drills was walk-on Michael Williams working as the starting corner ahead of Emmanuel Moseley. - RTI

I like how the staff makes these kids step aside and watch another guy taking "their" snaps.

It may have just been that they just wanted to give Moseley a break and wanted Williams to see how he worked with the first time.

Haven't seen anything to make me think that Moseley has been put in the doghouse. Quite the opposite. I think they're just trying to test Williams.

Agreed, Moseley has the inside track as the starter at CB opposite Cam but Williams is pushing for PT. Never a bad thing to have quality depth at CB.

If he turns into another JJ McClesky I'd take that. Glad to see us building some cornerback depth.

I think we're still going to see Gilliam, Jackson, Crowder, Kerbyson, Thomas as the starting O-line. The shuffling of the roster is probably to build familiarity at all positions for our best linemen in case of injury. I think it was yesterday Butch said we're five linemen short of where we'd like to be depth-wise.

I mostly agree, there are probably but a few positions not yet determined. I expect the last 10-14 days we will give the starters much more playing time together.

With Kamara and Reid coming in next year you really got like our RB depth chart going forward.

In 2015
Hurd - So
Scott - So
Kamara - Jr
Paulk - RSFr
Reid -Fr

Good post. I have noticed this at other positions as well. This staff understands the importance of building depth, meaning we have a quality fresh, soph, jr and sr at every position. This is how you build a quality program. Instead of loading up at one position one year and ignoring it the next two, which we have done on occasion.

Lol@Coach Jones playing the Eric Berry song. This guy is relentless. I'm thinking he has higher expectations of the Berry bros than the whole fan base

Is it an open scrimmage tonight? Or just another practice? I'd love to see some stats on how it's all coming together in a game-like scenario.
