Say what you want about the South Carolina game

Honest question. Do you really believe SC scored the way they did because we just had an off night and got a few bad calls?

Not at all. I believe we played so bad because the team did not show up adequately prepared and with the right mindset and urgency that they normally do. I also think SC did a lot of things well, but we still shouldn’t have lost and certainly not that badly.

Yes, we played poorly and eventually gave up, but I got the impression that the refs weren't going to let us win no matter what even if we had shown up and played our A-game. We finally got a stop and they called a ticky tack pass interference to keep their drive alive. We got ticky tack penalties on our offensive drives too, but it was the exact opposite for South Carolina. They could hold with impunity and commit blatant pass interference penalities right in front of officials without being flagged. Also, the game was very chippy with South Carolina players initiating a lot of it and the refs refused to throw flags there too. The game was as poorly officiated as our performance on the field was bad. Everything about that game effing sucked. It literally felt like the refs were doing everything to help them and everything to hurt us. Oh well, let's hope we can rebound from this quickly and get a win in Nashville.

It wasn't the refs. Our defense got one stop. One.

Nice to console ourselves with this but it doesn’t matter. Even if there were a bunch of bad/no calls we don’t get a second chance. Defense played like crap

Both are actually true. UT didn't play well. And... USCe in particular got away with A LOT of flagrant OL holds. That gave Rattler a clean pocket.... which led directly to his success throwing the ball.

Someone else will have to answer why the officiating was tilted. It could be honest but poor judgment all the way to an intentional bias. But they held consistently in ways that changed the game... and got away with it.
This right here. Vols played shatty but they had atleast 5 bad Holding calls right in front of they they didn't call. And they were grabbing WR also that didn't get called

There are occasional replays where a TV viewer can see a lot of the field. On more than one of those, looks like TN is playing zone....and the receiver catches the ball. He was the ONLY one in the zone and still got a 5-10 yard cushion. It wasn't this game, it's been several. How about you cover the lone receiver in your zone?

A weird plus? SC is under the impression that Beamer might be the guy. This'll get him a couple of years....until it becomes apparent he's a 6-6 +/- coach. Good for us....keep him, good for the rest of us in the East.

I don't get people and their PC "you can't blame the refs" nonsense. It's BS. People keep saying we didn't stop them so it doesn't matter. It absolutely matters. It's hard to sack a QB behind an SEC o-line. It's even harder when the o-line is allowed to hold without getting flagged.

It has nothing to do with people being "PC". You're just seeing the reaction to ridiculous statements like "the refs had it out for us and would've never let us win".

C'mon dude. It's hard to believe people really think like this.

Man we got our butts kicked this had nothing to do with the refs or even Jeremy Banks

To be fair those refs held up those touchdown arms over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

MANY big bucks fan-bases wanted TN to lose. That is a fact.

Paranoid much?

Listen, I'm not a fan of blaming refs for losses, as that is generally the ultimate loser talk, but especially not when we were essentially curb stomped in every possible way. If this had been a one score game and there were some obvious calls missed at critical times, then I could see some outrage at the officiating. This was about as far from that as you could get.

We got beat by 25. Refs don't play a role in that kind of outcome.

The USCe touchdown in the fourth qtr one of our players was pushed in the back near the goal line. No call. Also bring in the field condition. I have seen better High school fields than that. what was up with all the sand, it was all setup for USCe to win.,

D-line and LB's weren't to bad but DB's were really, really atrocious. I give all the credit to SC though as the way they played that night they would have beaten the majority of teams in the country. Spencer Rattlers performance was probably the best in CFB this season. If not, it's in the top 3. Which SR and SC team will show up against Clemson though.

Wrong. I also acknowledged that we played poorly, but I am also free to acknowledge that those refs had it out for us from kickoff onwards. Both can be true and definitely are in this case.

we got called for holding on the coin toss handshake.

What the #### are you smoking? They absolutely refused to flag them for holding and pass interference. They finally threw a flag in the second half late and the guy in front of the play wasn't even the one that did it. But they threw flags quickly and decisively on us

Dude we got some questionable calls in our favor as well.

Hell Herbie even had to add color to make it seem legit...

At the end of the day we got a beat down that seriously we might not have gotten had USC top 2 RB has played. Without them it made USC use yet sweeps and swing passes that gutted our defense and with J. Banks out made it worst.

I think they really thought they could go in there hang 50 on them and them being SC would roll over. But not on a Saturday night game in Willy B and being last home game Senior Day...

…and there were TD’s by us where the same thing happened to SC. It evened out.

Never thought I'd be rooting for a team who just spanked us and whose fans need a spanking, but I hope SC destroys Clemson and makes the entire ACC completely irrelevant and makes Swinney out to be buffoon of a declining program.
