Can the SEC/NCAA do anything after the fact? Remember Auburn’s coach said they played dirty last year. They are going to get someone really hurt. That second video is bad. This is just one step away from punching someone.

Agree! That second video... whew! If I was the mother of the player who got her neck wrung, they would be showing videos of me getting ejected - possibly worse! Beyond unacceptable!

Cunningham always has been the type to get in another players face and doesn’t seem to know the boundaries between physical play and something that could hurt someone. To her credit if the refs don’t call it I guess she sees it as not doing anything wrong.

I don’t see Meme or Evina letting her get away with some of the stuff she does. Not saying our girls are thugs/bullies but I just don’t think they will let anyone push them around like that. They always come to the defense of their teammates as well so if she tries that on Annie watch out! Nared has a little attitude too and I’m pretty sure her elbows are sharp lol

Those were dirty plays for sure, some may have been paid back???. Wonder what she will say after Tennessee beats her in a few days.

Didn't the AD file something last year on behalf of South Carolina after the Tennessee game? The foul that was called when a SCar player bumped Nared and then she sealed the win with free throws.

I think it's just hard because if every time you lose you say its the refs then people start to think you're crying wolf and take you less seriously even if you do have a point.

Oh definitely same here! However...the mere fact that she did it says to me her mama is probably okay with it. You know... raising and all. One of our babies would know if they did that there would be hell to pay from mama - forget the coaches or refs! 😁

Meme Jackson will make her pay for taking an action like that - whether it be against her or a fellow Lady Vol. Miss Jackson don’t play that! 😤💪🏿

If she doesn’t know the boundaries, then bad upbringing or bad character, or I guess she could be that dumb....I doubt that though. Never seen any indication of her being stupid.

Jaime and DD both got a dose of Cunningham last year. If the SEC gets enough complaints, maybe the refs will start calling flagrant fouls. I know they hate to call flagrant 2s, but a few ejections is the message Mizzou needs. Pingeton can use all the euphemisms she wants, but her players go beyond physical with good teams. Taking the best players out of the game is their strategy for winning.

You might be able to call fouls there, but you could also simply hand out a couple of Oscars. Especially the second one, I don't think physics works that way. They were hamming it up trying to get the flagrant calls.

Save your Oscars for Missouri's flops. Also, hamming it up does not usually make blood flow as what happened to Wilson. Missing those two obvious fouls went handily with the way the game was called. This also adds to the poor officiating stories that we have heard, seen, and witnessed this year.

The reffing is never 100% good or 100% bad but what it must be is consistent. Every coach, fan, & player has one ref whose style they just hate. Even if it's bad but consistently bad a good coach can get their players to adjust with just a few directions in a time out. The fact of the matter is South Carolina is no where near the defensive team they used to be so they are going to need to adjust to the fact that they are going to commit more fouls.

However, if the reffing is inconsistent then that's frustrating. If they called the game the same from the tip til the end and you didn't adjust then that's your problem cause they are still gonna get paid and you will probably have to see them again. You cannot control who refs your games or how they call it, but as a coach you do have 5 players on the floor who you do have influence over and you can advise them on how to adjust their hand placements, or footwork, or attitude if need be. Plus some refs the more you bark they more they will concede to you but not all of them. Some the more you bark the more fouls they will call.

Folks, watch the game... the whole game. It's still up on the ESPN web site.

The game was physical. Both ways.

The part where Wilson gets Porter's head in her mouth was not a foul... the two players simply walked into each other and Wilson happened to get the worst of it. (One angle of the ESPN replay clearly shows that but, surprise, that's not the angle that SC media chose to show.

Dawn is a great coach. But she has a mouth like a sailor and mercilessly works the refs the whole game. The result? She's wearing some of the refs out (there aren't that many that are assigned to the big tv games) and they're on her case by the tip-off or soon after. Whose fault is that?

If you watch the whole game I challenge you to tell me which of Wilson's five fouls were bad calls... they were all clear cut. And Cunningham's misdeeds were also called.

The fouls were even until the last 90 seconds of the game when SC had to foul every few seconds to counter a double digit lead. And some of these fouls could easily have been called intentional or egregious. More Missouri players fouled out than SC players. And there were some dubious calls that went against Missouri (check out Schutz's fourth foul, for example.)

Missouri's strategy was to double and triple down on Wilson and the other SC posts and make SC beat them from the outside. That's a legit strategy, even if Dawn didn't like it. (Remember when Walz used the same strategy in Louisville's big upset against Baylor in the NCAA Tourney? Mulkey didn't like that and wound up paying a fine! This happens a lot when David manages to beat Goliath -- "No fair! He used a sling!")

Missouri's offensive strategy also caught Staley unprepared. They expected a mostly perimeter game but Mizzou took it inside. Cunningham, the leading three-point shooter in the SEC didn't attempt a single three! SC's transition game and Harris's shooting almost bailed them out. But Missouri's ball handling is way better than last year's and the SC press was ineffective.

I really believe Dawn's biggest frustration was that she was out-coached in COMO for the second year in a row. And don't be surprised if Holly doesn't employ the same strategy, or a variant therof, against the Gamecocks. If the Lady Vols can hold Wilson in single digits there is no way that South Carolina can beat them.

Neither does Evina. They even got Izzy riled up and ejected a few years back. That was some bull there too.

I totally agree with you. I rewatched the whole game, and there were questionable calls on both sides, but at the end of the day, both teams were extremely physical. I also agree that MZ will use a similar tactic against us, which I am not looking forward too. They will beat Jaime and Mercedes to death. I really dislike that style of play.

In fairness I also went back and watched the game. I do agree that the fouls called on both teams were accurate. My problem is with the fouls that weren’t called on Mizzou. Watch what their players off the ball are doing. They are holding, elbowing, and grabbing. Also there is a lot of pushing and shoving from Cunningham between plays. Twice she went up behind Wilson and shoved her in the back in deadball situations. This is basketball, not MMA. When they finally injure or hurt a player, I hope they are held accountable.

Both of those plays need to be sent to the SEC office of officials tomorrow morning by Dawn.

Don't agree with her comment on "best player in the country", though. That has nothing to do with anything. If you're committing fouls it should be called. I've seen Wilson get away with her fair share of fouls -- especially over the backs and push offs when getting position. And Candace Parker was taken out of big games multiple times by refs -- most notably the FF game vs. UNC with two non-existent fouls in the first half by Eric Brewton. Unless you're a NPOY that goes to UConn -- Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart were notorious for being able to do whatever they wanted in a game without getting called for it -- that argument doesn't stick. Griner got away with her fair share of stuff but I've also seen her get absolutely man handled without a call (see the Louisville upset). Parker got manhandled constantly. Shoved in the back, jacked when crossing the paint, etc.

While I agree with most of this post, we have to remember there are no such calls as over the back in the rule book. What you are actually referencing is a push. I say this to say you repeated the violation that A'ja Wilson gets away with. But I agree just didn't need to be stated twice! ;)

I am no fan of her not taking young adults to Washington DC to celebrate their championship with the current president. I am confident she would send them to celebrate with the last president. I see that as being low class

To take a team made up of most African American women to the White House to meet a President that is an open womanizer and racist was a class act! I wouldn't take my team either if I were in her shoes. And for the record, she would've taken them but the invite came after they were already preparing for the current season! Know the facts before you speak on a topic you're obviously clueless on!

We don't
know all the circumstances. If the former president waited to invite them as if an after thought then they probably wouldn't have gone then either What gives you this inside information that you are so sure she would have gone? She said from the beginning she wanted to go.
